The Shaft - Fall to your death down an elevator shaft.
Those Ridiculous Ties - Kill 5 scientists by damaging only their chests.
Raising the Bar - With the crowbar, kill at least one type of every enemy possible.
Gordon Shephard - Make sure all scientists and security guards do not survive.
Rocky - Hit all the meat in the meat locker.
10 on 10 - Kill 10 enemies while at 10% health.

I realize that there are limits to Raising the Bar and Gordon Shephard but instances where the game prohibits you from being able to accomplish a requirement for the achievement would be exceptions.

Haha, “Krung Threp” doesn’t seem to lend itself well to puns… Anyway,

10,000 Leagues - Dive to the bottom of the river in Surface Tension.
William Tell - Shoot a headcrab off a zombie with the crossbow.
Soft Shell, Fried - Incinerate the Gonarch with the gluon gun.
Falcon Punch!! - Cook a grenade until the timer runs out, then detonate it in a Marine’s face.
Krung Threp - Learn Thai, then hit Gonarch’s balls with the crowbar.

edit: by the way, I just opened half-life for 30 seconds to see if “Falcon Punch!!” really works. (1) It does work, (2) it really is like an exploding punch, and (3) it is incredibly satisfying. Oh yeah, and you need to have lots of health and armor to survive.

Aside from the cockroaches and assasins, those numbers need to be upped to make it a real achivement. They’re too easy.

Help a single security guard get X kills
Do not kill any icthyosaurs
Kill all the icthyosaurs
Catch a female assassin off guard (use stealth to sneak up behind them)

Impossible, because of the area in Lambda Complex, where you have to kill all of the alien grunts before the scientist lets you in.

Technically it is possible if you, say, had a security guard or two in tow and enough of them manage to survive the ensuing bloodbath. I’d like to see someone manage that, though.

I never understood why people like achievements in video games soo much, they don’t add anything to the game.
