Oh yeah, the art direction is fantastic but I was actually referring to the engine in general.

I think the graphics engine was a modified version of the Crystal Dynamics engine used in Tomb Raider: Legend. This might explain a lot. Why they didn’t use UE3 or some other proven shooter tech is rather perplexing. But I suppose they had their reasons for doing so. Either way, I thought the art direction more than made up for some occasionally stiff choreography, because it’s one of the most immersive games I’ve ever played. And seriously, who wouldn’t want to see Deus Ex with better graphics and finer tuned gameplay? Imagine how Lady Liberty’s head would look in HD

Apparently they’re using UE3 for Thief 4, not to mention the rumor that they are making it for the next-gen consoles.
after seeing Star Wars 1313 stuff, I’d believe it.
