well that was really amazing
I saw it when they posted it on their Facebook page. Probably the best Half-Life fan film I’ve seen, and what’s more he didn’t do any animating - it’s all in-game footage!
^That.
Although it did seem like they did do a little bit of texture manipulation to increase detail. That or I didn’t notice how awesome some of them look.
That was… so sad…
It’s strange… I was really upset while playing the Unforeseen Consequences, but seeing it like this, with this music and… I nearly cried :’(
Well… Eso es genial…
Eh it’s good, but a little slow for my tastes. I don’t get all these artsy short films that make half-life look super sad. It never seemed like a sad game to me. If anything it’s more of a tragic comedy.
Well Half-Life has more action in mind than saddened emotions, mostly. These videos are supposed to pull away from the game and give views on how some of the characters feel during them. This one in particular being Gordon feels bad, and like he caused all of these deaths and torment.
I heard you Black Mesa guys tweeted it and facebooked it, but I think it deserves a plug on the forums too. I wouldn’t have heard of it if it weren’t for a studious comrade bringing it to my attention.
A Free Man - A Black Mesa Machinima (alternate Ending) [No SFM]
What a remarkable little film it is. I’ve gotta give him credit for making something so colorful and immersive without resorting to SFM. That’s true machinima.

Merged this thread with the existing one.
It really is great.
Gordon’s still happy enough to twirl the pistol at least.
Thanks, Max. The forum search must be broken when searching URLs.
omg that is brilliant
Ummm… I’m not sure what that has to do with… Oh well, whatevah. :zip:
A friend linked me to the video, I looked around the forum for it (didn’t see it) and searched for the URL to see if it had been linked before (no results), so I made a duplicate thread…
I guess it has something to do with the shortening of links; the search excludes things in the [url=] tag, and can’t match “?v=rSV8yDDznGc” with “?v=rSV8y…layer_embedded”.
Hmmm… When I get back to my desktop, I may have to try reproducing this scene in Black Mesa :awesome:
I see, I see. That is alright, then. Do not ask me why I am talking like this all of a sudden, because it’s probably just because I’m crazy.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
