Is Moroder still making music!? I stopped at the Scarface soundtrack… in 1983
Man, Pharrell Fucking Williams? Really? Daft Punk needed a touch of hip hop like I need a rusty railroad spike right up my asshole.
BUT HOW ELSE ARE THEY GONNA SELL THE ALBUM TO AN INCREASINGLY MORE RAP/HIP-HOP/R&B INFLUENCED MAINSTREAM CONSUMER BASE?!
HOW?!
He’s just singing. Here’s the whole track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DeogMJmI4qY#!
I find his singing a bit “flat”, though.
I’m sure I’m going to like the album anyway. I just have a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to guys like Pharrell Williams. As far as I know, he’s one of those guys who started out as a producer, then decided that he was talented enough to make music of his own. You know, like Kanye West. Or Lil Jon.
I don’t think he produced anything on the album. And overall I think he’s quite decent. He just doesn’t have the voice for that kind of music imo.
As for Lil Jon and Kanye West, I hate Lil Jon. Actually I generally dislike the whole YMCMB label. But I like Kanye West. He produces everything he does, and you can’t really say he’s a bad producer. He gets a little pretentious from time to time though.

According to Jambo this is fake…but I don’t care really, because it’s still pretty fucking awesome.
I’m not hearing anything, what was it ?
edit: nvm, the problem’s on my end. My onboard-soundcard decided it wouldn’t output anything anymore O_o
edit 2: Aaaand it’s fixed. Weird.
edit3: Well, I’m still not hearing anything from that link haha

It’s on now, up on Mexican Monkey.
As for Pharrell, I, for once - didn’t mind N.E.R.D. at all.
So it’s out now. Thoughts on the album? I’ve only given it a once-through, but my initial impression is that about half of it is awesome, and the other half is kinda boring.
I feel that way about most great albums on first listen, then I fall in love with the intricacies of those “boring” songs (and grow tired of the simple appeal of songs I liked on first-listen).
I will sample this album at a later date. Some past Daft Punk has been great, but others not so much. We’ll see.
I definitely agree with you about that first listening vs as time passes.
