7zip returned error code 2?

I’ll be brief, guys. I’ve tried downloading the game from every US source, but the installer consistently provides the same error:

Failed to extract files. 7zip returned error code: 2

I tried googling it, but got nothing relevant. Any help?

Have you reinstalled 7zip? Do you have the latest version of 7zip installed? Are you running a firewall and/or antivirus? If so, have you tried disabling them? Is your Windows 7 installation fully updated? (Periodic updates + service pack?)

I tried updating 7Zip, but no dice.

I’m using the basic Windows 7 because I lost the activation code for it. If I have to shovel out 400 bucks for a new OS disk, I’ll cry.
