2011 - the year of sequels?

I swear if someone starts this argument one more freakin time I will destroy the internet

You forgot FIFA 12 and a crapton of sport titles

I don’t really count those as sequels. It’s essentially just minor engine/graphic upgrades with the latest teams and players included.

Trine 2 anyone?
Just preordered it as the first one was great.

I haven’t got anyone to play it co-op with so if anyone else gets it, tell me!

yes.

I know, that was a sarcasm
I don’t get it why my friends are so pumped up about a new FIFA title every year, and when I ask what’s so different the just say “the graphics are cooler and the gameplay changes”

The way I see it, a video game sequal is totally different than a movie sequel. Generally 100% of the time, you don’t want to see a movie sequel just because you want more thrill. You want more of the story.

In a video game however, you want more of the experience. Granted, video games aim for replay-ability, but a sequel that aims to give a player “more” (Best examples are probably ACII and L4D2) are what really bring in the big bucks.

TL;DR - Movie sequels are for story, game sequels are for fun.

To be fair, while that is usually right, there have been some major changes in gameplay this year on FIFA, not just minor refinements.
