1187 mod released (Episode 2)

i had to turn the game off for the following reasons:

  1. Camera Bobbing
  2. SLOOOOOW gameplay (i dont mean framerate)
  3. just didn’t feel like i was making progress even though i was. in other words, BORING.

Damn, that’s going to be a long ass mod. :expressionless:

But all jackassery aside, I’m downloading it now. It looks like a nice little Half Life diversion.

@ gibbelin

I have it played it (not all though) its a really good mod a dev from 1187 is also working on a different mod called mortwood plaza it looks cool you should check it out

1187 for episode 2

Difference, Get it right. :retard:

After playing a bit, I have to agree.

Anyone who wants to get into modding/game creation needs to remember one thing: GAME DESIGN FIRST, GRAPHIC DESIGN SECOND. That’s why Minerva used almost all HL2 assets and blows this out of the water, even though this was more of a “ground up” mod. There is a lot of cool stuff going on visually, but the level design feels poorly thought out to say the least.

terrible IMO
the view bobbing gives me head ache, the gameplay is slow, there are no optimizations at all(watched some models and none of them had LODs), they tried to use $ssbump on at least one model(ssbumps aren’t supported by the shader for models(VertexLitGeneric)),
some collsion models for the physics engine were horrbily wrong.
Oh and did I mention the annoying view bobbing…

I if by ‘‘modified headcrabs’’ you mean poison and fast, the reason of their existance is unknown, I mean anyone confirmed if they where modified by the combine or if they adapted to earth and evolved.

As for the vorts as enemies: Imagine that it’s a paralel universe where the combine did not already invaded earth and, how Nihilianth died, the vorts are free to do whathever they wanted. As there was no common enemy between the vorts and the humans (The combine) the vorts did not accept an alliance or the humans did not want aliens in their world.

The player still be Gordon, isn’t it?

What? No you don’t play Gordon. :hmph:

This is one of my major gripes. I was also disgusted with how they throw in such a hacky Houndeye and call it a game.

Told ya!

What else can you expect from people who want to add iron sights at all costs.

Heard good stuff about it, heard crap stuff about it… Means its better than most other games with iron sights, so hey, may as well give it a go. Can’t hurt…right?

To those complaining about the vortigaunts, the mod takes place before Freeman conquered the Ninalith and freed them.

Yeah, well, the iron sights don’t work in its favor. It’s too fast-paced for that bullshit.

they spend WAAAAAY too much time with running around trying to find keys and solve puzzles. HL is not made that way. It is as if they got lazy and made pretty good worlds but not enough of these worlds. So in replacement of not having enough worlds they put a lot of puzzles to stall you in that world.

HL on the other hand, has LOTS of levels and worlds. So they can rush you through them and still have enough to get the story played.

The iron sights don’t work for me at all, either does the suit zoom. This mod is a major disappointed.

The mod is a little bit better with the new update

Finished it. Liked it. Waiting for sequel.

How can you be excited for a sequel? That ending left nothing for the player to cling on to
