[COLOR=‘Black’]FYI: guess you’re referring to those big mosquitos with the very long legs… Those are a different kind of mosquito. Male mosquitos hardly look any different than the female mosquito, just some slightly bigger antennae. Also, female mosquitos are the only ones that suck blood.

Now I guess you’re referring to these. This is a crane fly. They’re completely harmless, don’t sting, don’t bite. They just sit there all day.

To be honest, I googled “long legged mosquito” and it came up with “crane fly” or “hawk mosquito”.
I used to catch these as a kid, pull out all of their legs and a wing and throw them in a spider’s web. It was so deliciously evil.
You pretty much just have to LOOK at them wrong and all their legs will fall out. It’s a real bitch trying to pin these guys, and their legs always fall off. The REALLY good specimens are the ones that still got a few left.
They’re SO harmless, in fact, that many don’t even have mouthparts, and the ones that do generally feed on nectar and such. Fun fact: in Jurassic Park, when they’re drilling into the mosquito in amber, they’re actually just drilling into one of these. There’s a LOT of things wrong with that movie.
Now, answer us why you’re afraid of junebugs.
