My view changed 
I was going to have a major rage fit at this, but then I thought about it for a second. If you watched a clip from Series 3, I’d understand - John Cleese left to follow other projects (the utterly sublime Fawlty Towers, for example) - and Monty Python became a bit of a hit-and-miss affair.
I always found the constant double takes in the Roman scenes hilarious.
Centurion: “Hail Caesar!”
Pilate: “Hail Caesar. Centurion I’d like you to meet my friend Bickus Dickus.”
Centurion: “Oh yes. Hail Caeser sir.”
Dickus: “Hail Thaeser!”
Centurion: “Now I-”
Centurion looks at Dickus oddly.
Centurion: “I think the crowd’s a bit restless sir…”
