ehh… people read xkcd for the jokes. not because it’s a comic. I think you missed the point. Also please elaborate how you can do more with the medium based on the xkcd scientific jokes.
Sure he could have written the jokes in a blog post form, but why not use pictures?

He has a blog(blag) also. Makes sense to me personally, that way he can have a blog where he updates it only when he has enough time to think something completely out, and make a decent post, but he can also have a “comic” on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays that have small thoughts of his in them.

And you’re absolutely right theres almost no artistic talent in most of the comics. But, (and this is entirely my opinion here) that was actually a reason I started reading them, because I myself have no artistic talent.
