It actually began originally with us hand painting BSP shadows made out of non-solid func_brush onto the ground. Unfortunately for the future of video games, our attempts failed.
In all seriousness though, that was how volumetric lighting was done, waaay back in the day. I’m sure some games did the same for shadows (Hell, I think we did that with a gradient material a few times in HC for vents and the like, just to ensure the “fade to black” was fast enough that you didn’t notice the lack of further vent in any lighting conditions)
I don’t know what country you live in, but it’s still spring in the United States. By most people’s reckoning, it is still both astronomical and meteorological spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
According to outside it has been summer sense last winter, so that isn’t a good way to tell. go by the dates much easier and less sound like an asshole.
JohnWorfin wanted news about Xen because it’s summer “according to the outside of his house”, despite it not technically actually being summer.
By that logic, Crypt, who lives in Texas, should be entitled to Xen news because the consistent weather in Texas is comparable to a temperate climate’s definition of summer.
That came off as slightly condescending, but I just have fun explain stuff in detail.
