Slightly short sighted in one eye, but not enough for glasses or anything, aside from that, no eye issues.

I was looking this up because my mom in law was telling me that there are now contact lenses that you can get for color blind folks. Her son got these lenses and tried them out. He wound up not using them cuz they brought out the colors so vividly and it was disjointing for him. But I found this whole read very fascinating.

That is where I saw that there was more than one type of color blind.

Protanopia – Red-Green Color Blindness
(protan color blindness are less sensitive to red light)

Deuteranopia – Red-Green Color Blindness
(deuteranomly is related to sensitiveness on green light)

Tritanopia – Blue-Yellow Color Blindness
(People affected by tritan color blindness confuse blue with green and yellow with violet. So the term blue-green color blindness would be more accurate because the colors blue and yellow are usually not mixed up by tritanopes.)

Monochromacy – Complete Color Blindness
(If you are suffering under monochromacy, you perceive everything just in shades of gray.)

I wouldn’t pay $500 for color correcting glasses, but I would pay for laser eye surgery if it was possible to correct colorblindness. It’s not, AFAIK.

the lenses don’t correct colorblindness, they just make it easier to differentiate colors (not necessarily the correct perception of colors).

My old xbox live friend has the similar problem a few years back he bought a lcd tv which actually changes the colour scale to match that of his vision. causing him to see red if it is red, no grey etc,

I’m so shortsighted in my left eye that I’m almost blind in it, and my right eye is pretty normal. I don’t think I’ve had depth perception for years, heh. Regardless, I play sports like lax just fine. Hmm…

although i am getting glasses soon.

I’m not colourblind, but slightly short-sighted. Hence I have an awesome looking pair of glasses…that I hardly ever use :o

I see blues as purples and reds as yellows, not that bad but it still happens.
