What was the hardest part of black mesa for you (Video)?

The last part of Lambda Core, because my framerate went to shit.

My framerate went to shit as soon as the device started opening at lambda core, but I restarted the game and it ran fine after that.

@ the guys having problems with the HECU battle with the osprey, it isn’t that hard. What I did was jumped down then ran the opposite way in the tunnel, and hid away from the vorts, and wait for the first HECU group to drop from the osprey. If you do that, they will fight each other and be too preoccupied to notice you, when you can easily run out and take down the Osprey with either the RPG or Tau. Even on Hard more this makes the battle pretty easy.

I just shot rockets at the Osprey while sprinting around and avoiding the marines. It wasn’t terribly hard.

I greatly enjoyed the fights with the Assassins, but they seemed easy enough from what I remember, even if I died a few times.

so you also made the map where you get to the gun storage right ?! just a little glitch I noticed, before you walk up the stairs to the guard saying freeze you can stand on the railing and crouch jump ontop and get into the storage before talking to the guard. you can even walk up to him press e and he’ll talk to you like any other guard.

The part with an APC shooting at you and some bad guys with hive guns spawn in I took out all the creatures and humans but I had no ROX so used what little cover there was then gave it big legs up some stairs to safety only to get shot in the back by a sniper and die.

This reloaded the Autosave which saved just befor I died I had about 20HP to get past the sniper and take out the 5 or so guys waiting in the room onthe right.

Thats as the hradest bit for me.

I haven’t finished the game yet, but so far, the Black ops in Apprehension, because my FPS had some kind of spasm related to the Black Ops flipping around. I ended up using 2 of the machine-gun grenades, my last satchel charge, and a very lucky .357 shot.

Osprey level so far has been the hardest part for me, I did it on normal and made a vid of how to quickly take it down

Finally someone has used an avatar like mine.

On-topic, the hardest part of Black Mesa for me was probably the end right before you teleport to the credits, due to the fact that their is no place to take cover.

Huh… The lambda teleport fight is actually the only significant battle that I didn’t die on. The fight with the tank and shit right after the cliffside too me quite a while, though. I died like 10 times.

I had some trouble with the Apache at the cave, where you have the rocket launcher in a room guarded by two turrets. (is that where you first get the rocket launcher? Can’t recall.)

But yeah, I took the long way in this Osprey part.

I had an awful save point and insisted on reloading from there, which I somewhat regret now, haha. I ended up destroying the Osprey with the TOW. And the Abrams, too, of course.

The lambda portal part took me only 3 attempts or so, but I rushed to the portal with 2 HP!

ps: and are the female assassins ANNOYING or what… I mastered killing them with the shotgun on their second appearance, though.

The only part I would consider to be excruciatingly hard was the first Tank battle in the Whack-a-Gordon place. Annoying as hell, but I eventually got it.

Other battles were challenging for me, but not notoriously difficult. I found them all to be fun.

Actually the Lambda Core battle was very easy for me (normal). Originally it wasn’t the end but now there’s no reason not to use your most powerful weapons.
But yeah. Osprey. I’ll try beating him with changed stats of HECU. No more 100% accuracy. We’ll see.

Oh, right, fucking osprey. Right before that sequence I managed to take major fall damage and ended up dropping down there with health below 20. It wasn’t pretty.

the hardest part, hands down, was trying to obtain the mod as fast as possible at 8:47AM on Sep 14th. :stuck_out_tongue:

In my Let’s Play, that I was doing on Hard, I had a significant amount of trouble with the Questionable Ethics Lobby Ambush/Shootout. Here you can see my struggles and without looking online for tips I was able to overcome it but man. It was hard.

The 1st Part

The 2nd Part

That was, by far, the hardest point of the game for me. I had a few minutes of getting killed a bunch of times at the same point but not a full episode worth. It was bad.

I would have to go with last fight (portal) where, above all, my game started lagging after I was killed several times regardless of video settings.

Also hardest part would be the tripwire part (it took me about 30 minutes to get through that). Questionable ethics ambush took me some time but not that long, I made it on 5th time.

Use FRAPS, its much easier than your method.

Without a doubt, the map in Surface Tension after the tripmine puzzle.

Drowning in the waste recycling plant.
Those rivers of running muck reminded me of the time I almost died fishing when I got swept down stream.
I did most of that section holding my breath.
It played well on my fears, and a lot of other peoples as well, I’m sure of this.

Sorry, I’m past the section, I might go back and do a capture and post it later.

Without quicksaving, it would have to be the tripmine part.
