GTA4 needs a hell of a processor and graphics card, futureproofed until 2015.Go for stalker.
I have a 8500GT as well, a CPU close to your specs too, GTA 4 will run slowly and you will have to play it on low settings. An elaborate way to say “^ this”, bscly. But from what I’ve seen in Patonki’s broadcast, which was all about STALKER: CS, the game is prone to bugs and crashes. (edit: You’ll also die a lot. And get your monkey taken. And fall down holes. Or that’s just Patonki.) All in all, BOTH GAEM SUX111, there you have it.
If I were you, I’d pick up a franchise I haven’t played before, one that’s good and has proven itself. I’m sure there’s something out there you haven’t played before. Hell, some people haven’t even played the Half-Lives! Go figure.
Yeah STALKER Cleer Sky is hard as balls and it’s guite vague on lots of things and doesn’t really like to explain mechanics. And crashes a lot. And its not that well optimized. But it’s fun.
I get default 20 FPS, because I try to foolishly run it on the highest settings.
So if you don’t have patience for crashing or the occasional save becoming unusable don’t play it.
Well I already downloaded it so we’ll see. By the way I like hard games, and I don’t care if I die often.
I didn’t like stalker I think I played the original first, but I blacked out twice. I had no idea what was happening. They give you very little direction at the beginning of that game.
Just looked at your specs. Don’t even bother downloading GTA4, your video card is lacking in the everything department, and your processor might not hold up so well either.
Yeah I once tried it and it sometimes ran smoothly when there wasn’t too many lights. Everything was on medium with a 800 x 600 res. Actually I think every recent games I play is on a 800 x 600 res. Also is it normal that I can barely see the anomalies?

In Clear Sky did they fix the one…thing where you can only use your flashlight on “Low” or higher, and your nightvision on “Medium” or high?
Back before the 9800 GT, I had to play on minimum. That was fun.

If they did I don’t know it, because I can only use my Flashlight at a single intensity.
GET OUT OF THERE, STALKER.
I don’t mean at different intensities. I mean that if you have the video settings on “Minimum” on SHoC, you can’t use your flashlight or your nightvision. On Low, you can use your flashlight, and on Medium and above, you can use both. So if you have to play on minimum, you’re fucked, because you can’t see anything in dark areas.
Oh okay. Well I play at a customized “High” so my Flashlight goes pretty well. Unfortunately I don’t have NV’s because I took the gazmask option and didn’t realize you couldn’t take both.
Edit: Ooh I just saw the Clear Sky isn’t the first of the series. Is there something I should know about the story?

Clear Sky is a prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl, which is what I have.
It’s really fun, and it doesn’t have the whole “faction wars” feature, which you may or may not like. Can’t hurt to give it a try.
