My god, I just saw the most beautiful lizard I’ve ever encountered up close. It surprised me how rarely I see it. At eight inches in length, it was pitch-black with a few thin longitudinal stripes. These stripes were red at its nose, nearly violet on its tail, and every prismatic colour in between. The stripes were lush and saturated under sunlight.

The palette mashup was reminiscent of the The Dark Side of the Moon. I had observed a healthy, young blue-tailed skink. The photographs do not do it justice.
