crouch jumping? wtf is that? meh
Will practice with various combinations. Thanks.

[COLOR=‘PaleGreen’]Exactly as the name implies, hit the crouch key while jumping.

Well I got it. Thankfully it was easy. But it’s not as the name implies because that was the last combination I tried. Crouch-jump implies to me that you should crouch before jumping to get more wind up. Not crouch after jumping.
Thanks for the heads-up

Crouch jumping seems more and more to be a concept only lived on by OG gamers from the 90’s.

Hi - I loved the original and I’m loving the BM remake, but I’m stuck on something that’s probably easy but I’m missing how to do it. It’s just towards the end of UC, in the big chamber with all the hanging boxes that you have to jump between - about the third box in, the first one that involves a downwards drop as well as the forwards distance…the distance you have to jump to get to it just seems impossible. Crouch-jumping doesn’t make any difference because I can’t get close enough to the near side of the box before I fall. I freely admit that the raging vertigo I get when faced with any such thing in a game probably doesn’t help (I’m dreading the bit on the mesa cliff face with the chopper and the sentry guns etc…)

This is the Box Of Endless Frustration of which I speak:

Any ideas…?

you have to jump onto the rail to your left, then onto the crate

Also you can do the jump activating “Always run”.

Either do what PlausibleSarge said or try doing the jump while sprinting (Default Key: Shift).
I was able to manage the jump via sprinting.

After my fear of the crouch-jump I was surprised how easy I found that room. I did fall once or twice but it didn’t seem too frustrating… unlike Residue Processing.

Thanks, I’ll give it a go…

I threw the stool through the window at the exact right moment jamming the elevator in midair and therefore saved the lives of three scientists . But still I didn’t get an achievement :’( Handing out toilett paper is worth it but saving three lives…apparently not. :[

So far that’s the only thing I feel like complaining about :stuck_out_tongue:
AWESOME JOB GUYS…LOVE IT!!!

Idk if its a glitch or im just dumb, either way i need some help.

Any would be appreciated

Try crawling through.

It was a nightmare for me to get to the ventilation shaft opening in Unforeseen Consequences, right before you go down the lift when it rains headcrabs. Now I’m trying to traverse the pipes, but I literally can’t make it because I can’t jump high enough. Anyone else have this problem?

ever heard of crouch jump

Unlike the original game, the default jump is absolutely pitiful and useless. You have to crouch-jump (ctrl + space or vice versa) everywhere.

edit: ninja’d

Yeah I definitely noticed how gimped the normal jump feels in this game. I sincerely hope they fix it.

Crouch-jumping is the only way through the vast majority of the jump spots in the game.

Even when it’s a distance jump across a gap, you’ll usually have to crouch in midair to make it. Annoying, but personally I do a habitual crouch-jump in every game I play that has it, so it wasn’t a huge deal to me. It shouldn’t be too bad for others to learn either.

It wasn’t too big a deal to me either but it sure would be nice if some of the more standard jumps weren’t required to be CJed.

I got through the ENTIRE first Half-Life without crouch jumping even ONCE. I didn’t even know about it. Now, you can’t get through the first level of Black Mesa without it. Lol!
