Edit: In other news my fucking EP2 won’t load properly, I suspect it’s something on Valve’s end since its missing a pretty fucking important repository called the VO’s… T_T I’ve done EVERYTHING in the book including reinstalling it and moving shit around, I still lack the file I need.
In a way, it’s fun precisely BECAUSE it’s stupidly hard. I’m just impressed that I’ve made it to mission 12 in the first place. The only times I cheated were for the two dumb stealth missions where you can’t kill anybody because those are horribly designed and stupid. Heck, I even tried the first one a few times. The game mechanics do not lend themselves to stealth gameplay, however.
TGP, you might have more luck if you stop being so desperate. For some reason, girls have paid much more attention to me when I’m actually in a relationship and thus implicitly/verbal contractually bound to be not interested. It’s really weird. I guess they can sense desperate guys. Like a sixth sense or something. I was going completely nuts because I’d gone through high school without ever being in a relationship, and that only made things worse because girls I liked probably picked up on my desperation and steered clear.

I found the key to getting a girl, or even to get one (or rather people) to hang around with you would just be to be yourself (don’t act desperate) and see where the shit takes you. More over, just don’t give a flying care in the world. If you enjoy the time, that’s what counts.

I’ve been talking to a Canadian chick for the better part of a few years, I know her from my days back when I PvP’d on Diablo II. I’m not “wooing” her or anything, but shit seems to be going somewhere for me (I think). It’s hard to explain. The relationships still at the friendship stage, and I talk to her regularly. Sparks fly in certain situations, but she and I get nervous about the subject and back off of it.
She knows of my feelings for her, and she took it well. Beyond that I’m not willing to say.

Maybe you switched to creepy mode? Your whole brain probably restarted when she said “yes” and it probably tripped the breakers powering your rational systems.
Also a thing to note, if the plans mysteriously change on her end in a suspicious manner, take it at face value and don’t assume she is avoiding you. You’ll start acting weird otherwise. I can appreciate how this crucial step is going to be hard for you given your past experiences. I’m pretty sure the only reason you don’t have a “medal of being stood up” is because no one else showed up to the award ceremony.
Oh, I just got really happy when she said yes. I was always smiling around her, but it went from ear to ear in that moment.
I asked her out around 10 days before she went on a 2 week vacation with her parents. I texted her around the time she was supposed to get back. No reply. I called a week later, no answer. no reply. I called another week later, no answer or reply. I wished her happy birthday on Facebook. Two weeks turned into over two months. When I finally saw her again, I said hello and got brushed off because she was leaving the gym with her mother. I tried to talk to her again on Facebook a week later, and got a brief conversation. I tried talking to her at the gym a couple more times and got mostly brushed off. Tried Facebook one last time, and barely got anything. Then I see that her Facebook use goes from every few days to a couple of times an hour, and she isn’t chatting with me (yes, I went into stalker mode). I tried one last time on Facebook, and barely got anything. I have unfriended her because I can’t take the heartache of seeing her name there every time I log in. then the next time I saw her at the gym she talked to everyone around but me. I nearly cried, though I don’t blame her. I did unfriend her.
If there was anything there, it isn’t there anymore. Part of it is my fault, but mostly at the end there from what I can tell.

I don’t know her from the gym. That is just where I see her the most now. Her father used to be my mechanic. I have known her for five years. She is going to university double majoring in teaching and languages (she speaks three or five or something). That was one of the reasons I accepted her busy excuses before her vacation. And no, she isn’t THAT young, though 24 is still young to a 37 year old…

Was it updating when it stopped working? Also, VO files are pretty fucking important; that’s the directory where every voice file in the game is kept, minus possibly the enemy sounds. See, EP2’s VO is contained within the .gcf file, can’t remember which one, so chances are that it’s corrupted somehow. However, if you’ve reinstalled then I can’t really be of much help.

No. It simply won’t download the Episode 2 English.gcf. I sent in a ticket to Valve. Should hear in a couple of days if not on Monday.
Edit: To further iterate, it was a clean install via steam. I’ve tried nothing short of using a retail orange box CD to install it, but I doubt it’ll do it since the key’s used on another account.
it will work, but you’ll spend 2 hours updating to the final version because it’s the first retail copy
