My weird random video problem came back. And then last night, my video just altogether died.

Before I RMA’d the video card, I thought I’d try a couple things. I swapped out a power cable attached to the video card, and voila! Video!

…but now Windows 10 is stuck in a reboot loop, where it tries to boot automatic repair, but then just makes it to a screen that says “Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.”

This is kind of infuriating.

I put back the old cable, and now I have video, and I’ve booted normally. Then I swapped back to the new cable, and it’s also working normally again. Before, it was broken even after hard power offs and switching off the power supply.

The fuck is even happening with this PC?

Welp, back to onboard video. Onboard video driving an ROG Swift.

There’s one of three things I can think of:
One; the PSU is starting to die.
Two; the Mobo is going bad.
Three; Card’s going bad.

Otherwise I’m stumped. Best thing I can say for you to do if you want to isolate the problem is do a bare-bones boot (Mobo, PSU, Vid Card, and a stick of ram). Then plug in each thing one at a time until you hit a problem.

Have you tried a different card or plugged the GPU into a secondary machine to test it?

I don’t have another machine around to test it in.

I just flashed my BIOS. It was the last thing left I could think to do. I also noticed that AsRock’s website says, “Please update to the latest BIOS with Instant Flash or Internet Flash in the UEFI setup if you are using Windows 10.” I don’t know if that means to update if you’re using Windows 10, or to not use the Windows installer if you’re using Windows 10. English is not their first language.

Christ, I hate flashing BIOS. The whole system behaves so weird during, and I end up feeling like I’ve bricked the machine every time I do it.

I haven’t tried a different card; the most I’ve done is tried onboard video. I had no issues with onboard video.

I started having these issues right around the time I put this card in, which really makes me feel that it’s the card. It would be pretty coincidental for some other component to die right at the same time I got a new video card, unless I maybe zapped one of them on accident while I was installing the card. Besides, the PSU and motherboard are only about a year old each, and they’re each pretty solid hardware. (AsRock z97 Extreme4 and Corsair AX760.)

Just because they’re only a year old and solid in terms of long-term performance doesn’t mean they aren’t prone to failing. I’ve had products that failed on me right out of the box (and promptly returned them for a new one and/or a refund). That isn’t to say the problem lies elsewhere.

Atm, everything you’re telling me is pointing toward the card.

It could be software side, but knowing you, you already checked the drivers, right?

This girl I find really really annoying and disgustingly shallow has now worked her way into my social group and won’t leave. I can’t tell her to fuck off because she’s too integrated into the group now. She’s driving me insane.

She shares classes with me and always tries to work on assignments with me but the two times I tried to work with her she just wanted me to tutor her/give her the answers. She also won’t shut up about this 2 month “relationship” she had with some guy who “didn’t believe in labels”. She’s been talking about the break up for longer than they were even “together”. Fucking every word out of her mouth now is either
a) about the guy she was glorified fuck buddies with or
b) some Tinder date she’s about to go on
She also will take a snapchat (picture sharing app for the not hip snake people) and then ask everyone within 20 feet at least three times"Hey, is this Snapchat funny? Should I send it?" before actually sending the damn thing.

Not exactly rage more like frustration, what do you even call it when a girl is all “we should go do X” and then you get down to it and say “so lets do this now” and she ignores you till it goes away. Over and over and over again.

I’m like, if you’re gonna keep talking to me on facebook why don’t we do something IRL once in a while this can be platonic I just want to be like actual friends instead of virtual ones maybe you know, if that isn’t too much to ask to actually talk face to face once in a while like old school homo sapiens

Threw out my back at work, and now they’re cutting my hours as a result and I’m not recovering fast enough. It’s been 4 days and it hurts like it’s fresh. Doesn’t help that “light duty” still has me running my ass off everywhere, but hey whatever. Maybe I’ll end up on FMLA and only get 60 percent wages until my backs better. Course at this point that might end up being more than if I get canceled at 8 hours every shift till I’m better.

Just hope that the injury isn’t permanent. My dad got a triple hernia at work 13 years ago or so, and he hasn’t been able to work (or lift his arms above his head without pain) since.
