yeah, web browsing on it is pretty great, got some good games too. it works fully though, not even the touch broke. 
You can buy a new digitizer and glass on ebay just be careful when opening it because Apple made it almost impossible to open when it’s cracked.
meh, there’s no point. i’ve had it for a long time and it’s outdated. it just looks ugly.
doesn’t seem outdated to me all the newer versions are just a bit faster and have random gimmicks added like dual cameras, built-in speaker and better screen brightness
And a processor that’s twice as fast.
