The December Update, Part 2

Enough teasing and just reveal it already please

You haven’t quite answered my question, but i see your confusion.

Will Part 3 reveal similar big new content like the Part 2 revealed the God Rays?

To be honest, the bug fixes are what I expect the most from this update. For me everything else, like the new weapon models and godrays, are extra luxury.

hope part 3 shows what maps are being changed. (or proves/disproves the ST:U being official, though think I am like the only one that thinks that is what is being teased)

omg you gais are putting cockroaches back into black mesa!? Like, cockroaches that you can actually step on!?

Well, shit. This is now the game of the century.

Aren’t they in the game already?

Not ones you can actually step on.

That crunch sound was incredibly satisfying.

They should add roaches when they have working HL movement, wallgauss and improved gamebalance in MP… I really hope there will be a noticable improvement in MP gameplay with content update 2. People want fast, agile and precise HL gameplay in BM multiplayer and I really hope next update will bring MP a big step forward into that direction.

Yes, yes, we get the idea. No need to be such a stuck record. Pretty much every single comment you post is like this. We get it. Let us work on it.

I guess I’m a nag. Sorry for that.

At this point most complaints are nagging, as most of them have been said 100 times minimum. Though that doesn’t change how valid some of them are.

Also, I remember something form MP of the old half life, that is custom made co-op maps. I doubt the devs will ever do this, but I think if we had some of these in MP then the multiplayer may last a bit longer. (they are one of the few things still played in HL2  M.)

We all know that this upcoming update will contain bug fixes, but will there also be a fix for windows 10 users as some source based games do not run well in windows 10?

I don’t think you can fix much in the source engine that would allow it to run smootly on Windows 10.It’s just an outdated engine.

And you’re basing this on what? Plenty of downright ancient engines run just fine on newer operating systems.

Engine instability. Try playing Diablo II in full screen on Windows 10 (no legacy) and you’ll see what he means.

We’re getting off topic again.

Because Blizzard hasn’t touched the game in years. The BM team has full source code access, nothing is preventing them from patching out any engine incompatibilities with Win10.

I talked about this with someone a wile back who had this same problem and this is what we discussed.

Just to answer your question so we can get back on topic, i am not basing that on anything. It’s just my perception.
I am not a programmer, but i assume that fixing an old game engine is kinda similar to fixing an old car engine.
Some old cars will have engines in such a bad condition that fixing and/or adding replacement parts is just not going to work.

Therefore i find similarity with a game engine. If there are many bad/outdated codes, you’re better of making a fresh new engine.

Runs fine for me, it’s probably either you drivers or you aren’t running in compatibility mode.
