Surface Tension Uncut - Re-Adding Cut Areas/Scenes (Expansion Project)

I’ve included an installer which I spent nearly all day working on. It installs all the files necessary for ST Uncut, and also backs up your old copies of any files which ST Uncut mess with. There’s also an uninstaller, which when you run it, reverts the files to their original format. Hopefully this should make ST Uncut much more user friendly. The final release of OaR Uncut will have a similar style installer.

To those of you who’ve been following the thread/previous versions closely, the video may not be too interesting, I didn’t say much on there which I haven’t said already on here. I also only ran through the maps up to the gasworks - as the final sections haven’t changed much at all and my Fraps was being quite annoying. Still, there are some fun bits in the video and I was feeling very talkative whilst filming it, so I’m quite pleased with it. Let me know what you think of it, and enjoy it!

Thanks everyone for helping me revisit ST Uncut. Though it’s been a massive chore at the times and there’s been a fair share of excessive drama on these forums, it’s been fun and rewarding. I can now put this project behind me once and for all and start getting OaR Uncut finished to a similar standard. You guys have been great, I look forward to carrying on my journey through the wilderness of Uncut content with you guys by my side.

Enjoyed it a lot, the way the maps connect is work of a genius, more games should have it like this.

But yeah, this was amazing. I’ve been keeping up to date (reading wise, I’m terrible at wording feedback so I leave it to the better people), and was still a little confused how things were. Watching it in video form really helps, and I especially love the helipad/building revamp, thats really great.

I like both the expansive exploration options given, as well as the maps having good continuity, as you said, both with and within themselves.
Stuff like the blocked staircase, and the section that leads to the ‘snark bathroom’, just quite intricate touches that are amazing. It reminds me of how in Power Up, that one route blows up and you have to go around, eventually leading you to see the damage done from the bottom.

I finished STU v2, and it’s awesome. I like the new things :slight_smile: Well done!
But the bad news is the Gargantua chase scene is bugged. Reloading the map didn’t help.
- First of all I miss all the BM personel corpses in the alley, there are just blood spots. (Or did you remove those willingly? Why would you?)
- What’s much worse, the airstrike is not working. I can mark the targets on the tactical map and call it but none of the shells blow up, as if they’d be all blank… perhaps the problem is they actually fall through the ground.

Without the airstrike, the player is obviously neither can kill the Garg, nor blowing a way for himself to proceed.

Anyway, I played through the final version of Surface Tension Uncut 2.0 yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait for map B2 of On a Rail Uncut!

Heh, does anyone know why there’s such a large influx of guest viewers? I don’t generally direct people to this thread anymore, but more to the ModDB page nowadays. It’s strange that there are so many guests viewing the thread.

This sounds like the typical engine bug where the physics get glitched, and everything falls through the floor. Restarting the game fixes it. It’s an engine thing, happens on normal Black Mesa maps too. It would explain why the corpses are gone, because I didn’t do anything to them.

As for the airstrike, just sounds like the mortar screen being an inconsistent buggy entity. Again, I have no influence over that. It’s a coded entity. There is literally nothing I can do about it. It works perfectly fine for some people (including myself) and not so great for others. There are some things about that scene I can and have fixed, and others, such as the mortar screen, which I cannot.

Well, I am not suprised at all :slight_smile: . By doing these uncut chapters, you’re doing a great service to every single HL / BM fans. And this is the real place for Black Mesa. Trolls still tend to swarm moddb ocasionally.

Well, these are good news, and are also not suprising. On one hand the gargantua chase was buggy enough in the original release, on the other hand one can not blame the BM dev team, since they pushed everything, including themselves, to the limits to create Black Mesa.

The mortar screen only breaks if you use it and then reload the game, I think.

Found a weird bug!

When: From when the Barney opens the gate (map H) and he comes with u,

Place: It starts from the yard where the tank is destroyed from the Opsrey.

I shot the enemies with the heavy mounted gun at the gate, I noticed one enemy felt through the map, I went in the little office behind the control room for the gate and when hitting the boxes with the alien gun (Hivegun), they fall through the ground aswell, the same with all the boxes u meet, so also with the big boxes when u walk through the gate, before the map transition where u meet the Vort on the stairs

But no crashes anymore, reinstalled the complete mod and placed this maps immediately in the game

I’m not sure if anyone will agree to me now that it is released but how about changing the door that leads to the guard zombie in G to a security door?

Nice work by the way, Text! Very consistent with Black Mesa. I guess the side areas are fine since some Black Mesa maps have them too.

I’ve always had a problem with that roof in the car park but I can live with it.

This is a massive improvement on the previous iteration well done Text amazing work and well done the community too.

Great video is that HECU hanging in the car park by AI mistake or a permenant fixture lol I like it anyway
