From what I’ve heard vertical take off with Harriers just doesn’t normally happen when they have a full payload, though I may be very wrong. Either way, they can and do take off normally too and I think it looks more impressive like that. I will try and make it smoother for future versions.

As for commentary, probably not. The next (final) version is just over the horizon so I figure I might as well wait for that one, to do a final video.

You’ve installed it wrongly. Please read the readme. It’s called a readme for a reason. Make sure you overwrite (after backing up) your default Black Mesa files.

Thanks for the bug report. About the LAV - the problem with NOT having them destroy it was that if the LAV and the Aliens were the last things left - the Aliens would get close and very often just stand there looking dumb, because Vorts can’t damage tanks, and the Agrunts often approached from the front (they can only attack from the sides), and just stand there looking idiotic. I agree it’s a bit less ideal, but it works better.

Well, Balance in C2a5g LAV Scene is a pain in the ass, like you said, 2-3 aliens survive the fight if you don’t participate. I killed ONE A-grunt in the beginning and suddenly all the marines -2 or so survived O.O

Harrier Scene is more convincing now, but more hard to notice for the player since you replaced the tower with something equally looking good thing, which unfortunately blocks the line of view. Maybe add a sound from the takeoff to draw the players attention to that point ? (or is there already any, I haven’t noticed, but I also haven’t played with full volume, so I might’ve missed it).

No Bugs or crashes this time (literally the first time in any version without problems in the 1st run!).

On an OT note: How the fuck do I insert a GIF as Profile pic? My new Ava is supposed to b e a .gif but it doesn’t move… Anyone has an idea what could cause that problem ?

  1. Take off of harrier is SO lame, you can increase speed of harrier or cut it off absolutely, because now is so unrealistic.
    2.Maybe put here some complimentary health or shield or ammo(most needed) for curious players

There is one single change, it’s not even worth noting.

I had my fixed model for the roof collapse in the wrong folder. It was in “props” instead of “props_wgh”, which meant it didn’t show up in game. It should now show up in game because I moved it to the right folder in the hotfix.

Already searched for some little changes :wink:

2nd map:

  • Where those wall collapses and u see the second big fight between aliens and mankind, just before it blows up I hit the two boxes, one box contains ammo, but couldn’t destroy the second box, the wall blows up and I got stuck in it, had to use noclip to get out of it

  • those room with those sofa, I know alot of us gonna noclip to get in the room, but it’s not completely complete :wink:

3rd map:

  • After the part where u can call artillery, u need to turn the wheel to open the two big doors, well possible to set a stop on it, cause u can keep on turning the wheel :slight_smile:

Concerning v0.95b, most of my feedback concerns clipping issues. Here we go:

Map C2A5G

  1. At first big battle, soldier shadows bleeding thru large door (see picture).
  2. In garage level G, sparks coming thru ceiling from floor above. Sparks originate from arcing light fixture on level 1. Also, if this light fixture is arcing, should it be illuminated. It should be off or flicker at each spark discharge.
  3. Frame around garage stairwell windows have different colored segments (see picture).
  4. Garage level 1, wall opening upper frame and beam below opening and metal bar clipping into concrete support pillar (see picture). Occurs on other wall opening as well.
  5. Concrete curb missing end texture (see picture). Also occurs on curb on other side.
  6. Bad ground texture seam (see picture).

  3. Wheel crank assy clips into hatch lid (see picture).

On the parking garage top floor just outside of the stairwell door there is a rather large bump in the floor that you can’t walk over and if you crouch down it’s a gap in the level. Easier to see in game.

In the are before the wall breaks down you can see out this hole and see under the level etc. Was never there before I don’t think.

  • I think the blocker thing for the garg parts could still use a little work as his gibs still landed on and bounced on them for me after he exploded. They fell from the top down so maybe you just need to blocker thing for those over them as well instead of only the sides if that’s how it is.

*The pipeception is nice, but can you remove the effect of it bouncing you up onto the pipe for you? It seems a little odd and when I ran back out of the pipe it actually tossed me back up on it and I got toasted by the satchel flames.

Just for lolz. I set tripmines and a satchel up at the level entrance so I could blow those guys up later at the monitor part.

When I went to the third floor of the parking garage stairs and opened the door the vorts came running so I killed one and then ran back and hid and the other one decided to run down to the second level and then come up the stairs for me from behind while I was fighting the grunt. Scared the crap out of me.

I didn’t test very much this time other than just playing through it. I will do a more thorough run later although I won’t really be looking for clipping or anything small anymore, just game breaking or missing textures. There were a lot of new fixed up things you did a great job on. The marine on the rebar looks much better and it’s cool how he gets blasted by the jump pad air and flails around. The sniper makes a lot more sense now and no longer feels like a god. The new security guard speeches are perfect, it was worth the work.

  3. In security office upper floor, multiple beams clipping thru corner desk (see picture). Also occurs to corner desk on lower floor.
  4. Can that nuisance short length of concrete curb outside of the service garage be removed? It really serves no purpose and if you run over it, you take to the air like an olympic long-jumper (easily win the gold medal) (see picture).
  5. Map C2A5I, curved I-beam clips into pipe (see picture).
  6. Further to what was just posted by jessiestorm88 concerning the dead bodies of HECU, I came across some hillarious and outrageous body positions and it wasn’t from anything I did. Can their default death positions be changed to look more natural?

Having same crash to desktop as before in C2A5I. As soon as I’m about to drop down through the vent to meet the Garg, the game crashes… “HL2.exe has stopped working”.

There are a few more issues that I neglected to take screenshots of, so I’ll follow up with some more feedback after my next playthrough.

@Dadster, I was about to write out a long post addressing all your concerns when I then noticed your last picture. You’re using an old version, my friend. That clipping bug has been fixed.

Text, that screenshot was from an old playthrough because I neglected to take one on my playthrough of v0.95b. I saw that the I-beam still clips through the pipe. You lowered the position of the I-beam to make it look neater. Here is a picture that I just took. Can the I-beam be cut short of the pipe by a few inches instead?
