Social media campaign starts on Facebook

If it’s a video, I would personally prefer it to be a flythrough of the areas they showed off in the screenshots, maybe show an Osprey dropping soldiers or something like that. I’d rather not see any areas we haven’t been shown before or anything to do with gameplay.

A fly through would be pretty awesome, but it would be more effective showing off level design rather than game play. We already know the styles they use by the pictures. I strongly believe game play would show you exactly what to expect before the release. Yes, it’s like HL1, but it’s also like HL2. I want to see first hand what that’s like.

Is it just me or did you just stop being vague about what this media campaign will lead to?

Well, someone with a brain could have seen that before, but hearing you say it makes the day brighter somehow.

He just said they will give us more screenshots. We already know that they have screenshot folders of the size of over 10gb.

I totally get your enthusiasm about this, but there are other things that could be released that would deliver hype at a better pace.
Such as concept art, blooper reels, crazy gameplay bugs, wallpapers (in PNG format! :awesome: - runs away from Ram with much haste…) development interviews… the list goes on and on.
Keep in mind that they have to sustain and slowly build up the hype of this game for roughly half a year more. I know it would keep you happy to get a trailer now, but it wouldn’t please the masses if from that point on everything were a lower form of media. No one want’s a downgrade in media updates from vids to stills.

Side note: Don’t ever remove your signature.

It just feels like we as a community have seen all these, if I wasn’t so lazy I would link. Bottom line here is this: I agree with you, and all your points are valid, however personally I would love to see a game play trailer. When I was typing the previous posts I completely forgot that I won’t be able to play black mesa for close to 10 months from today if it get’s released after sept 17, as I’ll be leaving for basic training. That’s just me though, I don’t hold the developers accountable for my commitments. It would just be nice, that’s all. Also it’s very refreshing to hear from Ram about the SMC, I have a much better sense of everything, and am very understanding.

Let’s just pretend their facebook page only just got 20,000 likes a few days ago. There, now we are closer to getting media.

Or something.

Will you change your social media campaign according to the speed in which you got 20k likes? Say, raise the next media update to 100k likes instead of 40k?

“Attention please, to all of the 20,000+ Facebook-page-likers: We still don’t know when to release. Or when to release media. When it’s done, folks!”

Seriously, that kick-off was timed badly. I think everybody was already aware that there’s no new concrete info.

Sure, thats what he said :fffuuu:

BTW.: just realized being offtopic. Sry, wont happen again.

So, 1 month and 1 day without anything new. Sigh

Would Sir like some cheese with that whine?

Wow this quite the “Campaign” Did they really think it would take months to reach 20,000 likes?

Gotta Love the Newfags.

Admittedly things must look silly to newcomers from the like campaign.

“Hey! Thanks for giving us 20k likes in less than a day! But unfortunately we underestimated the dedicated nature of our fanbase and their desperation for a release, so we have to leave you standing with your dicks in your hands while we think over when to release the next part of the ramp up. Thanks for sticking with us and remember: When it’s done.”

It’s gotta look pretty disingenuous, regardless of intent or expectation. Even so, most of us have already learned the virtues of patience, so spread the word and wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Gordon “Raminator” Freeman.

k3nny1550, you’ve worded it exactly right  . sig’d

If this had been a campaign for some other release, everyone on this forum would criticize it or agree that it looks a bit silly.
But since it’s about Black Mesa, those people are called whiners or dumb newfags…

Gotta love the hypocrisy!

That’s not hypocrisy. Nor is it irony, before you ask.

So, what happened to that social media campaign which was intended to start more than a month ago?..

It did start. It just hasn’t progressed any further since they are preparing the next stage.

“Start” does not mean “Finish”

Which pretty much sums up this mod. B)

Hi, i’m Troy McClure, you may remember me from other troll posts such as, ‘noob question:when will this mod come out’ and ‘I’m nerd angry because the devs are slow’

Long time lurker, never posted.

Just wanted to say that if the facebook ‘campaign’ wasn’t/isn’t an experiment to see how many people are still interested , then starting a campaign and then leaving everyone hanging was a pretty dickish move. It’s pretty disgusting to do that to everyone they’ve got wrapped around their pinky.

I know this comment will simply get poo-poo’d by the hardcore fanbase (And yes you guys are hardcore …the amount of patience you have is incredible.)
But i felt that i should try and voice my concern as neutral feedback in hopes that those concerned would hold their silence until their mod is actually ready.

Yes, i’m eager to play this mod and this recent ‘campaign’ did leave a bad taste in my mouth, but take your time with it for all i care, there’s more to life. just don’t poke at me until it’s done.

TL;DR: Silly devs. don’t cry wolf, it upsets the children.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
