This is how they deal with guys who have a machete in China…
Funny how they’re all running away like a bunch of startled meerkats, but when he’s down they all rush back to hit him with chairs and sticks.
Isn’t that how it’s done? You avoid being attacked, and attack your enemy when he’s vulnerable - as opposed to allowing him to attack you or attacking him when he isn’t vulnerable, like when he has superior strength, weaponry, or position.
A guy that intentionally allows someone to attack him with a machete isn’t as much brave or masculine as he is foolish, just as avoiding an attack isn’t cowardice as much as it is wise. Discretion is the better part of valour.
If someone is swinging a machete around, you don’t dance with him, unless you’re Bruce Lee - you haul ass the fuck outa there, then beat his ass when getting hacked with a machete is no longer a danger. I think that’s universal.
Did you notice the guy who actually got stabbed? He got back up and joined back in with the attack. Then you see him walking away clutching his torso.
Props to him.
When I was living in Shanghai I was walking to get some street food when I saw a guy in the distance. I was about to comment to my gf that he had some strange ‘blood splatter’ pattern shirt. Then I noticed that there was blood all over the street around him.
As I got closer I could see the extent to his wounds. He’d been slashed twice across the face and was bleeding like fuck.
Judging by the mess around him, it appeared that he was a street seller (selling shitty CDs) and someone clearly tried to rob him. The crazy thing was, he had a crowd around him, none of whom were calling for an ambulance, but instead they were helping him pick up his stall and they were all having a good laugh. Even he was laughing his ass off…as he bled to death.
Chinese people are mental…in an awesome way.
I’m a firm believer of consistence. Once you run away, keep running. Don’t be turning around once you notice the other dude is down.
Yes, I can understand that position. That’s reasonable. Retaliation is not morally justifiable. I don’t think it’s justified to beat the shit out of the guy when he’s down, mob-mentality-style, but it’s justified to come back to help subdue him.
But, you know, most people don’t know how to subdue someone without causing injury. Most people just know how beat someone with their fists, feet, a blunt object, in this case, a chair. They aren’t trained to know how to handle something like that, and ended up beating the person into submission to solve the threat, although, I’m sure that adrenaline and the fight or flight reaction played into the group ass-beating.
So, while retaliation might not be morally justifiable, the fight or flight response is a normal human reaction to a situation like this, and the ass beating he got is what one should expect when one goes insane and starts swinging a machete around in public. It would have been a lot less violent if there had been some cops around to subdue him properly, but there weren’t, so he got subdued by a group that he threatened into an violent, aggressive psychological state.
I agree with Zen.
It’s basic animal instinct. If you’re going to get your ass kicked in a 1 vs 1 fight, you run away and come back with a larger force.
The end result is what matters. You live, enemy dies.
Did he actually bleed to death or was that a figure of speech? If he did die on the street while laughing that is kind of messed up lol
Would’ve just drawn down and shot em. But eh, that’s why I spent a absurd amount of money for my conceal permit.
Wish I have a gun so I could put bullet into these robber’s face, these guys are better off dead
^ Agreed. Scum like that shouldn’t be allowed to walk the streets. Hope they catch them.
@eleven Different country, different firearms laws… (doesn’t mean you can’t procure weapons on the black market, but still)
sling shot, some times its better than a gun. that and you don’t need a perment to own a good one. (yes you can do some damage with them they started as weapons people)
Here’s why you’re wrong:
-
The slingshot is not very powerful, and thus not very effective as a weapon.
-
The operation of a slingshot is dependent on strong elastic materials, which have only existed since the 1800s, when vulcanized rubber was invented. You might be thinking of a sling, which is also not very deadly.
-
Attacking someone who’s mugging you with a slingshot will more than likely just cause them to become more aggressive and possibly violent.
-
Slingshots are very prone to failure.
-
Slingshots have almost exclusively been used for hunting small animals and, as per wikipedia, ‘juvenile vandalism’. They are not traditional weapons.
-
You just suggested that a slingshot is better than a gun.
Just hide a good old baseball bat under the counter.
-
The range advantage is pointless because a mugger will probably have to approach you anyway.
-
A slingshot is not capable of delivering any more force than you can produce with your body. If it’s contact area you’re worried about, use a fucking knife.
Sucks to be robbed, glad you’re still in one piece man.
Anything heavy enough to cause blunt trauma is sufficient, if you know how to use it tho.

good enough for close range which is what they will be robing you at. and don’t tell me its not a good weapon.
Slings are a traditional weapon of the ancient and medieval periods. Slings accelerate projectiles to velocities faster than the speed of sound, which creates a loud crack similar to a gunshot. In fact, many firearm ammunition types do not accelerate their projectiles to the speed of sound. So, slings throw more massive projectiles with a greater acceleration which produces more force F=MA - Newton’s Second Law.
That description explicitly says “small game or birds.”
And Zen, a sling is a good weapon, but it requires a bit of space to be able to use effectively; not exactly practical in most situations where you’re being robbed, at least as far as I know.
