Sexy new front page

Why waste bandwidth? Put the youtube video up there. Its already in HD and it wont drain the site’s bandwidth. You can even customize the color of the interface if you dont like the standard grey/red. eg: https://www.youtube.com/v/oGlhgVz5r6E&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x2F8ECC&color2=0x000000

I just think its silly when websites use their own hosting services when they don’t have to.

Very nice!
I think my head asploded when I loaded the site today.

Only negative thing is the trailer quality and the fact that it has the machinima.com at the start/end.

Can’t wait to see what will be coming up next.

Indeed… I just thought “Do they not have their own version?”
But it’s nice to see what happened to the site all the time… first the forum and now this epic s**t

I don’t like change.

Also, wat.
We have a home page and a news page now? What are we, a website with actual content now?

It’s awesome!

ITT everyone goes gay for the new site layout.

It kind of needs a big DOWNLAOD HEER button, though. No, I mean seriously. The whole design seems to focus on it.

It’s pretty okay.

has been taken cared of.

Oh very nice image rotator there

Look freakin’ awesome, but that ‘FREE HL2 D/L’ banner is still coming up

Man, almost fainted.

I thought the mod was released!
Then… it didn’t.

I dunno about you guys, but I prefer the (now) news page, so much that I changed my BM bookmark to it instead of the main page.
Main page looks like a supermarket tabloid. :fffuuu: Maybe it’s just because I have dialup and can’t load the entire thing, but I don’t like it.

It’s the most beautiful thing I ever saw in my entire life.

Honestly, i preferred the old page format. i like information to be centralized and visible without scrolling. Sure there was text to read but i’d already read it. Everything i needed to see was right there before without scrolling. Forum posts, Youtube activity, Tweets…

i’m not lazy, i just like efficiency.

Also, the “front” image is too tall. it loads beyond the bottom of the browser window. The image is supposed to be like a movie poster image but for me it gets cut off half way down. i think it would look better if everything were presented up front, first. As a graphic designer, i must confess, i LOVE iFrames. Simply LOVE them.

i mean no offense. it looks sweet! i just like the older one better.

very well done hubi, the new site looks excellent

Apart from me

Hubi, YOU are a Genius the new front page is absolutely Amazing

It’s really quite awesome.

That outta shut up all those “it’s dead” whiners.

Hubi, awesome update to the frontpage. Very attention-grabbing, and I love the tentacle/Barney zombie background.

A few things I noticed/encountered/recommend:

  • In Vista SP2, Firefox 3.5.4, the BMS tab became inoperable for a few seconds at a time, but it didn’t lockup Firefox. Rather, all the controls on the page (video, picture rotator, etc) were inactive, then would suddenly turn back on. The inactive/reactive incident only occurred two or three times, then calmed down.
  • Perhaps add a next/previous button to the picture rotator? I would notice 2-3 photos in each cycle that I wanted to view larger, but after viewing one and closing it, the list had moved on, without a way for me to navigate back to the other desired screenshots.
  • Even though there is a media link in the top navigation, would it be worth adding a “View All” link near the picture rotator? And speaking of the top navigation, did you consider a slight border around it? Until you hover over it, nothing separates it from the other text.
  • “Speak about thing’s all Half-Life” - okay, grammar Nazi, but I figured I’d mention it.
  • “What Will I Need In Order To Play” - is it possible to fit this on one line?
  • “Revisit the world…” seems to overtake the Black Mesa page title.
  • Perhaps lighten the left and right page borders to a dark gray instead of black? Not so much that it clashes with the “Updates” panel, but enough to distinguish it from the dark center panel.

Of course, if any one of the things I mentioned was created intentionally, let me know and I will (further) respect your design genius.

Overall, amazing job and I can’t wait to see the rest of the update phases. And having seen new (to me) screenshots and rewatching the trailer…I can’t wait until the “Download now!” link appears

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
