Unfortunately, most of us are…
A friend of mine, who is very intelligent and grew up in a prvate school, thought that some provinces of Canada were south of America :meh:
Well, I have to say, EVERY SINGLE country has dumbfucks living in it.
So what? She was bred for looks not brains.
Back on topic. So what if security guards aren’t trained in mele? Don’t you think they’d be smart enough to push them back, and not just get mauled?
They do melee attacks at least once in the original, when the guard is being dragged into the vent (WGH?)
^it was scripted
It being scripted doesn’t change the fact that a security guard did in fact do a melee attack.
Security guards SHOULD be able to use melee attacks. They SHOULD start out with better weapons. Unfortunately, the most likely won’t. :meh:
Scripted sequences are NOT relevant to the actual suggestion.
Doesn’t it?
Sure, the team would have to add new animations (which they won’t ), but the guards still exhibit some idea of self defense.
The difference in America is that we praise the dumbfucks for “thinking differently” when we should be calling them dumbfucks for being dumbfucks.
Jesus Christ people, you know those “americans are dumb” videos are rigged. They just film the guy asking one question and then show clips of him getting answers from different questions. Except for that one guy who marked Austraila as Iran and the crazy hobo, the others are just answering completely unrelated questions.
I think that barneys could just use the combine rifle-butt animation for melees, assuming that they do get implemented, which I don’t think will happen.
no shit Sherlock. No wonder they have glocks.
And, to begin with the whole idea of melee was made purposely for show-off: why the hell would a security guard punch a zombie when he has a full clip and an opportunity to shoot the fucker point blank?
Best idea I’ve heard on this whole page. I always liked that animation.
And I think it’ll get implemented. I mean, really – whether or not you have hand-to-hand-combat training – if someone is trying to claw your face off, are you gong to take three slow steps back so you can fire your shotgun from a comfortable range, or push your opponent back and then shoot him? It’s sort of a common sense survival skill regardless of combat training.
because its a video game.
But it’s not a big thing that some of the people here are trying to prove by mentioning irrelevant scripted sequences, either. This whole discussion makes no sense.
Also, since basic NPCs in HL2 have melee attacks, what the hell is all this fuss about?
Exactly what I’m thinking.
Yes it is.
Uh yeah lets rifle butt zombies with a glock. As long as I still have ammo, if anything threatening got too close to me I would just put the gun to it’s face and shoot it. Why bother pushing it back when you could just shoot it in the face? It’s unnessisary. Although if I was out of ammo then it’s time to start pistol whipping mother fuckers.
It would totally make sense IRL, but in the game, barney would just get his face clawed off if he tried to engage with the glock inside swiping distance.
That’s not all either. Many of the old silo’s seem to have been re-used for other things. Ever look at the Test Chamber, or the Lambda Core? They look an awful lot like silos.
These aren’t super advanced turrets with intelligent targeting systems here. That’s why. The turrets fire at anything that moves and/or emits heat. Ever notice the dead grunt next the the HECU Sentry in “We’ve got Hostiles!”? He was killed because the turret was activated prematurely and he didn’t have time to escape it’s line of sight. The most intelligent thing about the turrets is that they know not to shoot each other.
In short; the turrets will shoot anything except themselves because we don’t have the technology to make turrets that can tell friend from foe.
