Religious Argument

I didn’t realize that there is a new god in different centuries.
I was under the impression that yahweh has always been and will always be.
Neat.

What isn’t neat is that handwriting.
Just terrible.

Serious suggestion:

When you and your dad is having a good time, like a friday night, eating pizza or something, say to your dad that you need to have a serious talk. Then you tell him that you feel inside you that you cannot believe in what he believes in, and you want him to respect that, and that he needs to stop forcing religion on you, or else your relationship will not work out.(remember, don’t say this with an irritating tone, just with a nice and calm voice)

If we still won’t understand and respect you, something is really wrong with your dad. So bad that he should go see a shrink.

What the fuck? That looks more like a legal document than a letter between family. And why the fuck is he sending you a letter if he lives near enough to take away computer priveledges?

Sorry man, your dad’s not human, and that has nothing to do with religion. :frowning:

^ tend to agree

I’d go with this, much less effort involved and he’ll probably be a nicer guy to you.

it’s like religious people don’t WANT people to take them seriously.

You shouldn’t have signed that.

Religious freedom and all that, tell him to stick it.

Open discussion of religion with ones children? Sounds like good parenting.

i made a post, check it out

Open discussion? Sounds like his father has already made up his mind and won’t accept his sons personal choices.

Just tell him you’ll decide at some point in your life. It will most likely grow on you when you are way older, but It might not. Who knows. Life’s a mystery.

You think a man who works as a Preacher has already made up his mind? Really, you think it sounds like that? Really?

Yeah, the “issue” is that he won’t “accept” his son’s choices, and rather than “accepting” them without question wants to actually have a conversation about the foundations of those choices. Again, good parenting. I hope Mediaville approaches the conversation with an open mind, rather than just relying on Dawkins writing as biblical truth.

ugh. dawkins is a fucking asshole. he makes atheists look as bad as stereotypical christians make theists look.

…This is why we can’t have nice things. Minor details such as religious beliefs turn us against each other.

this is true, but a lot of the things he says make sense

This is the most awesome point i ever heard. I don’t know why many people like to force another people to do the thing that they don’t want to do?

Uhm, care to explain?

He’s arrogant and self-righteous and comes off as a prick most of the time. Which isn’t to say I don’t agree with him in most respects, but there’s a nicer way to go about it.
Also he’s an incredibly boring lecturer :3

I agree with the last sentence, but I never noticed him being a prick.

He’s still awesome.

You’re 15 years old. Deal with it. When you’re 18, go out and have the less-inconvenient life you’ve always wanted.

Sometimes he has a holier-than-thou attitude towards religious folk, which is unnecessary and counter-productive.
