That is a very short katana. It is almost a long knife.
Yup, there are three size of katana
1.Small, just like in the picture.
2.Normal, longer length of the picture one.
3.Big, That are too big and too heavy even i can’t hold it.
Well, the reason of my house only have a small katana is unknown, they are my father’s anyway.

Actually, there’s only one size of Katana, it’s about 90cm long and it’s called, guess what… a Katana.
What you’re holding is a Wakizashi… it might look like a katana, but the fact that it’s less than 90cm in length means it just isn’t a Katana, it’s a “shoto”, or short sword.
The big one that’s too heavy for you to hold would be an Odachi (there’s a flat accent over the “O”… dunno how to type it though)… that’s also not a katana, though related in style, forging method and so on.
It’s a bit sad that I should be correcting you on this…:meh:
