New theme, my monitor’s so damn bright that my light-grey theme was unnecessarily bright even on minimum brightness. It’s still very similar… except now it’s light-on-dark.
Oh, and my desktop has internet tonight for the first time since the 15th of December, 2008. So I’ve been updating everything…
It’s not even a skin. It’s a color theme he made himself. He runs Windows 2000. He would have to install Window Blinds to get skins.
Or better yet, upgrade to Windows 7.
Oh, yes, that’s Windows 2000, plain and simple. My theme uses only #101010, #181818, #404040, #808080, and #808040. I named it Hive Mind because the only hue is dark yellow like honeycomb.
On dark skins, Siggs, I would normally agree with you. They only work when everything else is also light-on-dark, and they certainly do not work when fed to projectors. But I’ve been using a simple black-on-lighttgray approach for longer than BM’s development… so this is a nice change of pace.
It’s one monitor, my 23" gift to myself for the sake of a more-open desktop (on-screen & IRL! no more CRT). They included some nifty software that makes it really easy to divvy windows up, hence the three windows arranged. I was also showing off the Split Browser add-on to give Firefox multiple panes.
Why Windows 2000? Well, why not? It just seemed like Microsoft stopped fixing problems after it fixed ME, and instead started mucking things up.
I have been stuck with XP on my laptop for a few years, and it’s tolerable after I change enough of the settings, but every desktop I touch ends up running Win2K because I don’t have to change anything to have it obey me. I’ve installed it on at least 5 machines so far and been very satisfied.
If it’s any consolation, I’ve recently decided to next try Server 2008.
IrfanView is the bomb for opening any one desired file. There’s a clearly different icon between its image files and the audio files it plays (audio uses the sheet of paper), so I have no complaints. (For background playing I use Winamp, and for video I use VLC. Altogether a very satisfying set.)
…
I’m using lots of words to make up for the current lack of wallpaper.
I agree. He says the newer windows versions has things “mucked up”. But I know a lot of people who would disagree with him on that.
Anyways… I fixed Firefox again. Now running StrataBuddy and Strata40 theme. This is how it might look like when Firefox 4.0 drops. It’s only a mockup from Mozilla, but it looks sweet as a theme now. btw. mozilla didn’t make the theme. they are only working with photoshop (or more likely: gimp) mockups atm.
