Right after I got my new monitor, with its 2048x1152 pixels of glory, I made my wallpaper very similar. I took a population-density map, and turned it into varying shades of grey.

I’d link to it, but I don’t really feel like finding where in this thread I posted it…
(my recent monitor is serving a non-internet-accessible computer)

What’s that? Compiz Fusion? You young whippersnappers, in my time it used to be called beryl/XGL, before the release of Vista, when the wobbly windows and fake ass rain effects were actually interesting.

Anyway, yeah I’m running it, no choice since Ubuntu practically comes with it, all you have to do is download the settings app. I’m only using it for the cube, not for the wobbly windows.
