Scan.co.uk FINALLY got me my replacement card;
Compared to the 8800GTS I was using as a temp card, it’s tiny, a good inch shorter, and much much quieter, I was running the 8800 without the fan controller.
And I got my new Seagate hhd delivered, 7200rpm 1Tb.

My netbook came with one and it crashed after the first time I took it out (luckily, to put a 250Gb WD in).
down to personal experience I guess, I’m a SeaGate guy through and through. Every WD drive I’ve bought has failed very quickly.
i always buy western digital for external drives but i prefer seagates for internal ones

I have WD, Seagate and Samsung internals and they all run great.
I only use WD externals though, had too many issues with other brands.

Seagate is not a terrible brand. They had a rough go a short while back though, where the first release of their 500GB, and 1TB drives had a firmware problem that would cause the drive to fail. WD is definitely top of the hill right now. Samsung is getting their with their spinpoint drives. I don’t miss the craptastic Maxtor drives. I think they were bought out a long while back.

is it a good idea to buy “As is” laptops on ebay? There are some with 512mb ram and P4 2.4 that are just 40$ “Buy It Now” and the picture shows the BIOS. What could be wrong with all those laptops?
i got a laptop for free that had no ram, they thought it was broken, and i just put some ram in it. voila!
it could be an OS issue that someone is too lazy to fix.
Who knows, the one I just bought has everything except the AC adapter and needs the same voltage and amperage as my current AC adapter.
Also I think I can double the RAM out of the box, if this thing even works.
I had heard about those, but I made sure mine is a later revision anyway
