But still, I’m pretty sure the quality of vinyl plays a role too, if only in durability (i.e. low-quality vinyl will sound worse after a couple of plays).
Though Vynil can wear out over time, most vynil (if stacked vertical and in a cool room without too much heat) will out last any CD, my dad still has a 300+ collection of Vynil each one in the same condition that he bought them, most are 30+ years old.
Most people are lucky to keep a CD unscratched for 3 years let alone 30.
There also really isn’t a low quality Vynil, they are all made out of the same stuff, and back then some random band couldn’t easily just go and make their own album themselves.
I’m sure if you search hard enough you can find video’s on how they actually made vynil records back in the day, I remember they showed a 20+ minute vid of it when I was in College.
My vinyl player had a record function but I was too young to figure out how to use it.
Oh wait, now I remember. A friend of mine said that newer vinyl has better sound quality than older ones. So that probably has more to do with production quality of the recording itself then.
Unfortunately my parents didn’t seem too careful with most of their records, most have scratches on them. The noise isn’t too noticeable most of the time though.
Still, I’m lucky I got so many from them, I only have a few I bought myself, or got as a present or something.
sersoft, you could just input a record player into your computer’s line in to record. That’s what I do to put the music on my computer.
Mine is a USB record player, so I can stream music right through my speakers super easily, it’s great. I have to do a couple sound settings changes to get it to work every time I want it to play, but it’s worth it.
What most people underestimate, though, is the quality of the needle. It’s quite important (at least for old record players) to have a well-shaped needle and to have the correct pressure on the needle.
Too much pressure and you scratch your records, too little and the needle might skip.
Haha whenever I went to radio shack/“The Source” I always wondered who could possibly need to buy those.
Makes it easier for me to put the music on my computer, also, it means I can play it through my computer, rather then having to switch out the line feed whenever I want to switch between my computer audio and my record player.
I don’t necessarily need it, but it’s a nice convenience. Plus I wasn’t the one who was paying for it.
Does your couch have dandruff?
Nah, just very dusty.
Plus the camera flash makes it stand out.
For the longest time, I’ve wanted to post a bunch of pictures of ‘mah hos’ in this thread, to pimp them, but I can’t honestly put the effort in.
You have too much god damn money. After I get back from North America in June I’m gonna save for upgrade. Hell, the 4 weeks I’m away I will have paid leave so that alone should cover it =D
