Pimp your...

Better then a Dell or an Asus.

Actually, Asus is statistically the most reliable brand of laptop available.
The acer was on a for a good price, and I looked at the reliability of the components. I’m not a sheep that thinks the company who puts the components in the machine means anything. You know why HP is the lowest of the major manufacturers of laptops? It’s the components they chose for their machines. Acers is dragged down by their lower end product line which cuts a lot of corners in quality. I went with the most reliable mobile GPU, and the CPU mobo combo known for reliability. The only part I don’t like is the HDD, but I’ve got a lot of those sitting around.

Fixed

Dang, that’s pretty sweet.

I have an HP that almost survived 1 year, now I need to buy a new mobo because HP doesn’t have BIOS recovery tools.

You can’t judge only by the reliability of the parts, if the manufacturer sucks, your PC will suck.

hp does has recovery tools, press f10 or something like that on startup, one of the functions brings up recovery I think. I may be wrong though.

Well, I am aware of all the crap bloatware I’m going to have to remove. However it doesn’t really matter as I have an MSDN license. So Windows 7 Ultimate x64 is going on straight away…bye bye crapware!

That’s what generally annoys me on laptops (even though I’ve never owned one), the bloatware.
I recommended a Samsung laptop to my dad, as it seemed to be the best deal available in local stores, and it doesn’t have bloatware. I hope I didn’t recommend crap.

I’ve only used a preinstalled OEM OS once, on my first computer. Which I then formatted 20 times over 2 years.(I was fucking around with system files too much)

If my first OS was Linux, I would have been a linux pro by now.

I prefer Lenovo, though I might be biased as my dad used to work for IBM.

I was actually disappointed in the results for lenovo. They fall between Acer and Dell for reliability. That’s not good for them, because their lineup includes less netbook, or entry level notebooks than either of those two companies. Netbooks and entry level notebooks bring down your reliability hardcore.

I’ve only worked with the one I have, which is a Lenovo ideapad Y730, and I’ve never had a problem with it. I only use it for gaming and writing papers though.

I looked at that one, but I didn’t really think I’d use the touchscreen. Besides, I already have a tablet. :3
