Nice Brother… Very Nice.
I love Banff - Beautiful.
(You have taken some very groovy shots Cpl.1nsane)
If you have those two in bigger size, I’d bet Patonki would use them as his wallpaper.
EDIT.
Is that a starfish or an octopus?
Hm, looks kind of like a couple of starfish.
Starfish Brother Soup
And yes, I did saturate the colour - Pretty much had to to try and get some definition out of the shot…
They are slightly fuzzy owing to my being a newbie at the time. I would have done better to tripod the camera (a Canon 400D) and up the f stop to around 8 or so. (And the shutter for one more stop as well) I was using a 75-300 kit lense, which really is not so wonderful of a lense. I really wish I could retake the shot using either my new 70-200mm f4 L series, or my 100-400mm f4 L - Both have image stabalizeation and are TACK sharp. Coupled with my new Canon 7D, and it wouold have been SO much better. (Sigh)
All these images are from my my old system (Which I still have and use here or there - Except for a few of the Zoo shots - those were taken with a Canon G-10 Powershot. Amazing little camera)
Learning all the time… On thing I can say for certain, is that Pro series lenses ARE worth every penny if a person wants to up their game in photopraghy. I will post some of those later, but for now I am just goign through the older ones.
This first shot would have been better with a higher F stop. In this case, the shot is tight enough that blurring the backround really was rahter here or there. So once again, the definition took a hit for no reason. (Again, it was that silly 75-300mm 5.6 kit lense which I don’t use anymore. - More of a frustration than anything. - though, I have certainly took some reasonable pictuires with it, nothing really … amazing. I went and bought that new 55-250 Zoom with image stabalization - the auto focus is retardedly fast - A clearer lens, but still rather lacking compared to the L series lenses. Had I known the differences at the time, I would have bought fewer lenses and simply with the L series. The kit lenses take a “softer” picture which contributes to more blur - Bleh.
I’m not a monk, so “Brother” isn’t a term of address you can use for me.
I do not mean it in a religous sense - A human family sense
Either way - No “brother” Soup
Ta.
By the way, did you take all those photos?
You know Soup, I am glad you mentioned the Brother thing… That is a good point. I do not mean to imply something that does not fit… Just sayin’
Yes, I took every one of those photos.
Most of them are just plain luck as I was just learning - Come to think on it, I am still just learning. The only difference now is, I have some decent toys - I will post some of the new stuff later.
That said, a buddy of mine (Who has been very good about teaching me some of this photography stuff) said to me when I told him I was going to upgrade -
“You know, having expensive gear will only allow you to take a higher quality of crappy shot - You must learn the rules, and then your equipment will give you what you want”.
He was right.
I love the ones of the ducks in the clear water. And ALL of the birds, you should create some kind of online album with the higher res pics. A DeviantArt account, photobucket, something I would use every single one of those if they were higher res mate, seriously
.
Glad you like them.
I love birds as well.
Mallards are my favorite kind of duck. These were taken at Stanley Park In Vancouver Canada.
There they are just playing about in the water. The drakes have much more colour, but the hens have so much dynamic browns and such.
Hi-res Raw shots really tends to show it.
I want to head further north to take some shots of some loons sometime - Bloody work gettin’ in the way
I got the new gear so I can spend a decade or so and get really good with it - then when I retire, I can do some Pro shooting to keep me busy.
That’s the plan anyways.
Oh, I understood that, it’s just kind of creepy.
Do you have underwater gear, or were the aquatic shots taken at aquariums or some such?
No underwater gear, just really clean glass at the Vancouver Aquarium is all.
I had a bunch I tossed because the camera tried to focus on the glass instead of the critters, but a fair few did turn out.
I hear a person can get a cover for the Canon G-10 for underwater - I would be afraid of something going screwy - It is a great little pocket shooter, but very sensitive to water damage and dust.
I am most impressed with the D7 and certain L series lenses - they are water resistant and that is a good thing. Then they should be - A lot of pro shooters use that rig and they get themselves into some hairy places where the weather is not so kind…
My buddy and I were at the zoo together - he was teaching me some of the finer points - I clicked a few shots of this fellow,
only to have him hack up a bit of fish, which went sailing through the air, and smacking me on my forhead - It smelled liked rotting fish - Gross. My buddy laughed his ass off of course, and said to me;
“The ladies will love you now”.
I hope it chokes on a herring. (Kidding, I don’t really - it was rather funny.)
_____________-
I just ripped one, and donkey started choking… SCORE!
This last shot was with that 55-250 - Fast focus is good sometimes, as it was with this. A much sharper lens as well…
Donkey??? :hmph:
That is no donkey. THIS is.
And is actually mine!
Rossman
LOL
I should have said, The donkey behind/beside/etc - me…
A word bubble would have been better come to think on it
EXCELLENT picture. That is awesome
It is a Jerusalem donkey Yes?
Those are so cool.
We used to have one too.
His name was Mile-Away.
He was a living prop as it were, for my father’s old miner stage show.
Haha nah it’s funny.
Yeah he is a Jerusalem donkey. His name is Donkey. We got lazy.
Anyways here are some photos of ME! at my last dive meet.
Front 1 SS, 2 twists free
Front 2 SS, tuck
Front dive, 1/2 twist free
Hurdle
Nice Hight, and the toes were pointed - All score builders.
Cool.
I used to love diving too - though, I kept getting bumps on my head from hitting the bottom of the dumpsters - It was only when a buddy told me that dumpster diving meant something different, that I went back to pool diving.
Still getting a kick out of your donkey picture - I notice that the tree has seen better days - they do tend to chew.
So you compete with your diving?
Yeah those horses do love elm trees.
Yeah I do compete but not anymore since i just graduated. I’ll still do it for fun though maybe on club team.
NINJA KICK!
