lol i love how the actual fuck this thread turned into a dubstep e-peen rub fest lmao no offense
What, did you just expect people to discuss your song for 5 pages?
hahaha
Com Truise’s Galactic Melt has a Alan Parsons/Blade Runner vibe to it IMO, and it’s fucking amazing.
Found a few sweet tracks from a local Sydney guy I’ve seen play a few times. Nice and dark!
he sure knows how to keep the pace and restrain himself, unlike those teenage wankers.
Wow, fridge. These links are classy as fuck. Damn good tunes, thanks!
I love this track… and this type of dubstep appeals to me
I think it really needs a fresh wind, and this is exactly what I call “fresh”
Open question: what makes a good bass drop? or, how is a good bass drop designed? other than “by ear”
I just heard “Bangarang” a week ago because a dude at work blared it over the PA in the dining room, then I saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCaOmJ8w4xQ&feature=related
Any kids you know getting up at 6 a.m., setting up a tripod, etc.? Awesome.
I just released another https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wh6HJH-M8k although it’s more “chillstep”-ish
Why
Wayyyyy to fast. Slow the fuck down that wobble and it’ll be more chill-ish and actually worth a listen. Also, cut down the singing, it’s just not good
Listen to some other’s work, examine what makes it good.
Give This ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkM05jjHMNw&feature=related ) a try.
Ugh, autotune. No thanks. It sounds like a Glitch Mob remix. If you’re trying to make some really low tempo, chilled out dubstep, take a listen to Burial:

Also, fuck yeah, Distance!
nowdays kids dont know whats good old dubstep, they think its skrillex… fuck that
Let them listen to their shitty wub wubs, at least there are still people around with decent taste in music.
I don’t understand what is shitty about a defining feature of dubstep. I’m not trying to make underground dubstep, I’m trying to make mainstream (mass appeal) dubstep. I’m not asking for reasons why it doesn’t fit into a certain niche, I’m asking for constructive criticism based on the actual musical value of it, not how radical or fringe it is. I’m typing this as I listen to that burial song. And I don’t think that song is shitty by any means, it’s just not what I’m going for. Perhaps we have different definitions of dubstep, or sub-sects thereof.
Also that distance song I enjoyed more, and I really liked the percussion, which is something I struggle with.
edit: also I’m not a fan of skrillex and specifically dislike his take on dubstep, but I do admire his ability to grab a much larger audience than most “good old dubstep” artists.
Really? I thought it was kinda slow. I guess it’s all relative, but I can definitely try something even slower in the future–thanks for the tip. Also, yeah I’m working on finding more talented vocalists, and I think I’ve actually got one for my next song.
