‘Books are for old people’ seems to today’s kids a free pass for being retarded.

I did, and really enjoyed them. Same thing with The Hobbit. I tried to read The Silmarillion though, but I gave up after fifty pages because it was way too hard to follow.

Guess what? I was 14-15 When I first got the book.
I ended up returning to the very beginning for at least 5 times. I made it my bitch though in the end, with tremendous effort.

I know this is blasphemy, or whatever, but I could never get into LotR.

I tried reading the Hobbit and didn’t care for it all that much. This was quite a few years ago though so I might try it again some time.

The first chapter in Fotr is excruciatingly boring, but then it picks up and it’s amazing.

Many people say it’s boring and I get where they come from - so you’re not so special.
