Last Film You Saw

Last night I watched… it was called 13 Sins I think. It really wasn’t that great.

Watched As Above, So Below today.

Was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t a generic zombie or ghost movie. It was pretty original and managed to pull it off pretty well. One of the better horror (though I’m not sure I’m comfortable calling it a horror movie even though it had a lot of horror-ish elements in it) movies I’ve seen recently.

Branded.

What a fantastic movie. It’s the weirdest genre I have witnessed.

Hadn’t seen it yet, so I’ll watch it now. 12 min in, Tatum got waaaay better.

I seriously want him to play Shocker in a Spider Man movie

edit: 30 min in. So far, this is what the first fucking movie should have been.

editedit: OH GOD

I’M FUCKING DYIN

THAT FACE

Enders Game wasn’t nearly as bad as some people made it out to be. It was actually a good watch. I don’t care to ever see it again, but it was definitely worth the time I pout into the first viewing.

Watching Transformers 4

It’s a fucking abomination

but again

these faces, man

I liked it a lot too. It had good cinematography and good acting (from the kids mostly, Harrison Ford just seemed ultra weary), and was pretty faithful to the book. I think they just tried to cram too many plot points from the book into the movie. It either needed to be reworked, combining and/or cutting out parts of the book, or it needed to be longer. It felt like the situations Ender was put into were scarcely finished being set up before they moved on to the next one. For a movie based on a source material that was much more psychological than action-adventure, I think there should have been a bit more time spent on dialogue and on longer, lingering shots. Still good though.

The best part was totally the reaction shot of Marky Mark nodding in approval as Optimus starts blasting the bad guys. It’s so ridiculous I laughed out loud in the theater. Poor John Goodman though :frowning: His last-minute, shoehorned-in voiceover was cringe-inducing and made him sound so stupid.

I watched Transcendence a few days back. It starts kinda strong, has good ideas, but eventually kinda fades out into a disappointing end. Wouldn’t watch it again.

A few days before that i watched Her. Great film, and great and subtle imagination of the future. And yes, just a voice can pretty much turn you on  I highly recommend!

So Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure is on Netflix now. I forgot George Carlin was in that movie.

fixed

Danny the Dog (a.k.a. Unleashed, 2005)
What a great movie. Jet Li and Morgan Freeman. I love the original plot and the way they handled its character-development.

I also appreciate the first fight-scene, in which he head-butts someone’s fist. This technique has only been surpassed by 2013’s Commitment, in which the protagonist punches through somebody’s fist.

Moonrise Kingdom, very good (and greatly cast).

Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo.

What a badass film.

The Sand Pebbles (1966)

If you have any inkling of patience, it is well worth seeing this three-hour movie. It is mildly depressing but terrifyingly effective at making you feel the characters’ dilemmas.

MST3K: Gamera vs Guiron

“♫Gamera is really neat! Gamera is filled with meat!♫”

“♫See the kids head to their fates,
They’ll disappear into the woods,
It will be days before they’re found,
Corn-job will be blamed.♫”

“In space, no one can hear you spin.”

Dude this movie is so stupid lol, one of my new favorite MST3K episodes

Got dragged to that Walk Among the Tombstones movie. It was better than I was expecting. Didn’t really seem like my kind of movie at first and I don’t especially like Liam Neesen or however you spell his name. Good movie though.

I like to spell it “Leslie Nielsen” and confuse people.

Thirteen Days (made in 2000)

An educating look into the dramatic events of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the political dealings that eventually led to peaceful resolution of what could have been the beginning of World War III.

Very recommended!

Wendy and Lucy - Starring Michelle Williams and a dog (Lucy). A simple/small believable independent 2008 film.

Absolutely a great movie !
