Last Film You Saw

The Lego Movie was pretty fucking gr8 not gonna lie.

Animation director of Robot chicken, and the writers and a bit of the cast too from fucking Clone High. It’s basically a feature length episode of Clone High, except with family friendly under-the-radar adult humor in place of Clone High’s Clone Highness.

Faster

A decent revenge flick starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. I sort of guessed the ending near the beginning, but it was still worth seeing the once.

Manhunter

The first Hannibal movie, several years before Silence Of The Lambs. It was later remade as The Red Dragon but I somewhat prefer Manhunter over it. It’s got a bit of a cult following and it’s easy to see why, it’s a really good movie.

Godzilla - 4/5

Not perfectly flawless, but it manages to pull off a good balance of drama, monster action, and just a bit of camp, and it does capture the spirit of a Godzilla movie. There are also some really good performances by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Taylor Johnson on display here.

Fast and Furious 6. Stupid. The actions scenes were way over the top, the prison plot line was useless, the last action sequence was almost as impossible as the safe from the previous movie, the first fight between Gena Carano and Michelle Rodriguez was pointless, I don’t think the one woman would have died from falling off that car if everyone else could survive jumping into a jeep from a higher up location, and yet I enjoyed it. Stupid, but fun.

This coming from the guy who hated Pacific Rim because the jet fighters were unrealistic.

I said Pacific Rim didn’t suspend my disbelief. Fast 6 didn’t either. There were a lot of impossible things in there. But I was in the mood for stupid fun, which it was.

X-Men: Days of Future Past. Finally, a return to form for X-Men movies. For me, this one is up there with X-Men 1 and 2. I’m a little hazy on the details of their method of time travel, but everything else is so good I can deal with it. Quicksilver in particular has a wonderful scene which I won’t spoil, but is pretty much worth the admission all on its own.

I really liked First Class too, so I’m glad to hear this one is even better.

Going to see it Saturday with my sister and her sons. Can’t wait. Avoiding media on it is becoming more and more difficult.

I honestly didn’t care much for First Class for some reason. Maybe I need to rewatch it. Anyway, probably the best part of that film was the dynamics between Erik and Charles, and that really carries over very well into DOFP. Add that to Singer’s excellent action sensibilities and his ability to seamlessly integrate the light hearted humor and heavier dramatic elements of X-Men and you’ve got a great blockbuster film. It doesn’t always make complete sense, but its always fun to watch.

When I saw The Avengers in the theater, some people clapped. I wish it was a room-wide ovation. That movie’s so fucking great.

If Diana Rigg wasn’t in it then it wasn’t any good.

Shut up, old man. Go back to your bingo game.

Days Of Future Past

Awesome movie. Not perfect, doesn’t beat Avengers (my favorite movie ever), but a lot of fun and very well made movie. I don’t have anything bad to say about it.

Saw Edge of Tomorrow last night, went with no expectations and was blown away!Apart from the somewhat weaker last act this movie was all kinds of awesome…basically Groundhog Day meets Starship Troopers.

Blasted spoilerific (probably) trailers keep playing on TV and in front of other movies

I’m not sure which were worse, the trailers for Edge of Tomorrow or the ones for How to Train Your Dragon 2

I only saw the first trailer for the movie…a very wise decision, something that’ll do in the future for both movies and video games.

Do movies that are based on internet webseries count?

If so, Then Red Vs Blue Season 5

I watched Lone Survivor on a flight a couple days back.

Man…that was an intense movie. Those falls made me audibly wince haha
