I made it differently More spider-man skills.
I crouch-jumped all the time in HL2, what’s you’re talking about?
There’s abosultely no point in crouch jumping in HL2 :hmph:
i don’t really recall crouch jumping in HL2 so it couldn’t have been necessary all that often.
there is no jumping in BM - only crouch jump. so many people are mentioning it that it’s obviously a problem, even if some people are used to it. something is wrong when a player needs to hit 2 buttons to use the jump option, you can’t just hit the jump key in BM and expect to jump on anything. i really hope they fix it, imagine what Xen is going to be like, crouch-long-jumping everywhere, man that would be a nightmare.
If you’re talking about the warehouse, you aren’t meant to jump those. Only the very, very low ones are supposed to be jumped at ground level. Try a different route. It’s doable.
Since it was released in 2004, i’ve played the whole game about twelve times.
There is not even a single moment in the game where you need a crouch-jump :freeman:
That’s a good point. It is used so often for most of the jumps, that normal jumping get’s kinda obsolete. So there is no point in having a crouch-jump, it just unconvienient. Crouch jumping should be only used to clear tight spaces, not to get onto objects.
yeah that’s how i remember it being used in HL1. using crouch jump to get into vents or those windowsill ledges is fine, but not for every jump needed in the game.
duckjumping is very present and necessary in HL2 games. Try again.
It wasn’t cut in HL2. I still got a lot of use out of it. all the way up through portal 2 and into CS: GO in fact.
actually they killed duckjumping in L4D and portal2.
any common jump in those games reaches the height of a old duckjump
In TF2 a lot of maps actually have some really useful jumps that you can only make with crouch-jumping.
This isn’t entirely true.
Many successful jumps can be achieved by simple running and jumping. Three buttons: forward, sprint, jump.
And if you have “always run/sprint” enabled, the only thing you need is press forward button and then press space at the last moment. Two buttons: forward and space.
Original HL1 has “always run/sprint” enabled by default.
I sort of agree with the jumping thing. It’s not that bad though, so I don’t really care. The only thing that has bothered me is the long jumping, but I got used to it.
I still jump-crouched in HL2, it still worked and there were still valid uses for it. Especially avoiding the ant lions on the sand and getting extra health packs/ammo. Then again, I played Half-Life and its expansions back when they first came out, so to me it’s a staple of the series. I guess if you just picked up from HL2, not so much.
Either way, this is such a ridiculous complaint and anyone that’s actually serious about it needs a slap in the face.
I don’t care about jumphigh in singleplayer, since in most situations of SP you dont have to move that fast compared to multiplayer. If there will be a multiplayer, I would really appreciate if jumphigh is the same as in the original HL 1.
Don’t talk about games you obviously haven’t a clue about.
I never crouch-jumped in Portal 2, so it isn’t necessary there.
Alright let’s clarify this: by “cut out” i meant that they have cut out the necessity of it. You can play every new Valve game nowadays absolutely fine without any crouch-jump.
Try to play Black Mesa without it. I hope you guys got the point now.
Nobody cares what point you’re trying to make. You had to jump-crouch in Half-Life, you have to jump-crouch in Black Mesa. It’s not difficult.
Nobody cares? Who are you that you presume to speak for others? Are you reading the feedback for the crouch-jumping here? We will see if you will [COLOR=‘Yellow’]have to crouch jump after the next updates.
lol
