Well, I hear the reactors are fine, and I hear at least three are in danger of melting down. Not sure what to believe.

Though, of course, these reactors are built to withstand this type of shit. As long as they keep the rods submerged in sea water as they are doing now, there should (hopefully) be no problem.

This is what a guy I know in Japan says.

Yes, there have been two explosions this morning but in both the initial radiation released was only 3x what we normally absorb from space in a year i.e. insignificant. Furthermore, the levels sank far below that after 3 minutes. The wind is also heading to sea so we have literally nothing to worry about over in Fukui. And thanks to the explosions, which have NOT explosed the rods to outside conditions, it released pressure that was preventing them from pumping the water in which they’ve restarted now.

I’ve been bemused by everyone acting all sanctimonious about this earthquake, saying that “your thoughts are with the Japanese people” and things like that doesn’t actually achieve anything. Appreciate it! It IS weird hoewever how they measure 400 times the radiation around the NPP. Either the usual radiation is extremely low, or the article is not up to date anymore.
