Well, if I were the head of the Black Mesa dev team, and I would put a Christmas theme onto the front page that hasn’t changed for the past 3 years, I would expect to generate some speculation. So whoever did this thought about us thinking about this being a hint. That doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily a hint, but they necessarily considered us taking it as a hint at least.
I personally think it’s totally possible that it’s a hint. The bow on the tentacle suggests that it’s a Christmas gift. At least to me. It’s either a joke or a hint, but it’s not naive Christmas decoration, especially with everyone speculating like crazy about every single word in every quote from every developer.
OR…
We have a single person on the team where ALL he does for the BM team is our webpage. And once a year he has a reason to actually make a change to the page.

Yesterday, all I saw on the front page was the Santa hat on the headcrab and the ribbon on the tentacle. Today, there are ornaments as well. Fascinating…
I noticed this under the “Quotes” link in CatzEyes sig in the second quote: “There WILL be indicators or hints that soon means soon. I remember a certain media release where there was at least a couple weeks of “its coming folks… the media is coming… it will be big… its coming”. And then it came. And the internet crashed.”
I don’t know if that was said by a dev or not…but the progressive addition of Christmas decorations has me thinking that perhaps those are the hints. Either way, I’m starting to feel optimistic about a 2010 release.
I think the hints and indicators are going to be more pronounced than what we have seen so far this season. 
Anyone remember that Black Mesa ARG? That was amazing. Something like that would be good for it.

There was a Black Mesa Research Facility website up awhile with a hiring section. Clues were left similar to the Portal ARG that announced Portal 2
I doubt you think it had, but that had nothing to do with the BM mod though.
Sure the christmas theme doesn’t necessarily have to do with the release at all. But we haven’t had a christmas theme like this before and it makes me quite optimistic. It might be a bit naive but hey… it’s better to be optimistic than pessimistic.
