How did you get your forum name?

This one is some random shit I randomly typed in because I could never decide on one set nickname (and still cant). No, Jack is not my real name.

Thars a lot of ninjas on the internet. People usually call me surplus and I sometimes just make that my name when making accounts.

“bur” is a random syllable me and my cousin used to say when something was funny in a surprising way, or something. My computer/internet life began together with him ^^ good memories

later i also started using burton, after Col. Burton from C&C Generals, and sometimes burbibur, when bur is too short or already in use

I picked it out of a hat and then reversed it because it sounded better that way.

Real reason coming when i wake from my nap sfter shoveling snow all morning…

A slight misspelling of the most awesome Sci-Fi villain to ever grace the silver screen

To be completely honest, mine doesn’t have any significance. I just kinda needed a name. I go by 3 on the internet: C.G. Massey, Icatchon, and this one 0_22one.

C.G. Massey is three parts: C is the first letter of my first name, Christopher. G is the first letter of the first name of one of my favorite anime characters, Gilbert. Massey is my nickname.

Icatchon is exactly as it sounds. For a while I was a n00b, but I caught on. Since this is my oldest name, besides C.G. Massey, it became my name on youtube haha since I was less of a noob.

And yeah, 0_22one wasn’t taken. I don’t think it had any particular significance at the time.

Edit: now I remember. I was writing a story and each of the characters was an experiment with the tag 0_some number one. The main character was 0_22one. The number was their experiment number, the one was what experiment they were apart of. The 0_ told them what floor they belonged to in the building.

Another Edit: I forgot my xbox account name. That ones WhopperZombie. That one came from a joke between a friend and I, where we said eating a whopper from Burger King would attract the horde.

Not gonna lie, the first place I found the name “Sergeant Pancakes” was on some random TF2 player I saw while playing a good old fashioned stalemate match on Hightower what, 3-4 years ago? I had been using several other names on various other sites beforehand, and still do, but for some reason (maybe it’s just the fact that I kind of got attached to this name since its been on my steam account forever :B) this name is by far my most ubiquitous across all of teh interwebz. In fact, I’ve become so attached to the name that I kind of respond to it like my real name whenever someone says or types it ingame O_o Oh, and here’s a rundown on other names I use or have used:

Lerb88- One of my earliest names, I came up with it somehow wayyy back when I needed a username for some online robot battle game I barely remember back in 2005 or something. The password? My bike lock code

DragonFury/StealerOfWar/DaRoflBandit: My very first Xbox live names… :fffuuu:

KirbyTheEpic: My current Youtube name. Haven’t bothered to change it. My first Youtube name?.. XtremePingPongPlayer

Oh how creative 7 year old me was

heh heh heh
let’s just leave it up for ya imagination

It’s from One Piece, the manga/anime. I used it when I signed up on a One Piece forum in 2006 and used it when I signed up on here too because I like stuff like that to be the same or similar. I’ve since changed my username on the other forum though.

Normally, my account name in steam or other forums is the same: Lümmel, or derivatives thereof when it was already taken. (Luemmel, AS_Luemmel - yes, the abbreviation hides my real name :stuck_out_tongue: -, Luemm3l and so on).
It translates to something like oaf, slob or lout in english, but it isn’t really a fitting translation).

For some reason I can’t remember I couldn’t or wouldn’t take the name on these forums, I was a long-time lurker before I decided to register here (short before the old Forum crash was and this website got launched).
So I needed a name and hit random keys… That gave me a sudden inspiration and my name is a shout-out to a name of a intelligent, cellular species in a science-fiction novel called Der Schwarm (The Swarm) by Frank Schätzing I used to love when I was younger. That was yrr (the Professor in the novel named the species after hitting random keys).

Additionally, yrr is an alteration of “irre” in german that can translate to a lot: insane, lunatic, freakish, funky, freaky, ridiculous, rad, in short, someone who is “loco in the coco”.
That doesn’t mean it applies to me, I just liked that name.

bur, didn’t your forum name use to be bigger?

I seem to recall the same. I think the names used to scale depending on how many characters they had.

Burbinator

Good olde Burbinator with the fat kid avatar.

Ah, exactly! Don’t remember the avatar tho.

I don’t remember what I used before it, but around 2005 I was obsessed with that Destroy All Humans! character Crypto, and I used to use that. Around 2007 I shortened to Crypt because I felt it sounded a little less goofy. I also remember something about a misspelling, but I’m not sure what that’s relevant to.

acade is a shortening of academia, not a mispelling of arcade as many seem to think. I also go by the name papernick or papernicolas (my name is Nicolás).

I picked it many, many years ago, based msotly upon my liking flamethrowers and their ilk in video games. At the time, I didn’t realize it’d be taken on most sites, or that it would usually be taken as a TF2 reference. To this day, I see people saying “LOL, a guy named Pyro, but he’s playing demoman!”

Recently I’ve taken to using the less-generic username “Pyroclase”, which I thought was a type of mineral I’d seen in Dwarf Fortress, but turns out to not exist. I think it’s a corruption of Pyroclast, which is that volcanic death cloud stuff.

yeah it was burbinator for a while  don’t really remember the fat kid either :x

I came up with the name “vocaloid9299” in 2010-11 when I was a weaboo piece of shit and then in mid 2011 I decided I needed a new username for some low-quality fanmade Pokemon MMO I was playing, so being a Japan-obsessed useless fuck (and being female (relevant)), I decided on “MSKyuuni” (Ms Kyuuni, Kyuu-ni being romaji for Nine-two) but after a while, I decided it sounded alright and now I use it for everything except ModDB.
