Hazard Team Compile Tool - Hammer Map Compiler Replacement

Actually, placing the affected textures in the hl2 or ep2 section of sfm’s game folder solved the problem with using the SFM v-tools (hl2 or ep2_workshop). Huh. TIL.

Okay I think that’s your problem. The SFM tools almost certainly do not work properly with alternate game configurations, if what you’re telling me is the case.

I would suggest not using SFM’s compile tools, if at all possible, to keep it clean.

Why vbsp make it crash?

Because you broke something.
We’ll need more info to help.

If it crashes, please tell me exactly what the symptoms of the error are, and what you were trying to do at the time of the crash.

How do you get the tool to run the game automatically following compilation?

Why would you want to start the game up on every compile?
Throw this into the console ingame once:
bind “9” “restart”;

Just hit 9 when done compiling.
Then play in fullscreen windowed mode for nice alt-tabbing.

Accidentally stumbled upon this in the Valve dev Wiki.

THANK YOU GUYS!

Time to blow the dust off of this old thread. Looks like I can’t update the OP of this thread due to forum shenanigans, so I guess this’ll have to do.

HTCT 0.6.0 BETA is (finally) released! Download here: https://htdlhost.herokuapp.com/files/download/htct-0.6.0-BETA.zip/

Changelog:

  • Fixed a bug that would corrupt/freeze the state of the Compile Window if the target directory doesn’t exist when copying a BSP to its final location after compiling.

  • Adjusted some UI spacing in the Settings Dialog.

  • Fixed a bug where any GameConfig.txt files with root keys other than the specific key “Configs” would cause the Settings Dialog to incorrectly parse the file and fail to detect game configurations for that SDK.

  • Upgraded the underlying runtime to Python 3 (yay!).

  • Upgraded the UI framework to Qt 5.

  • Fixed display scaling issues on high-DPI monitors.

  • You can now choose the “Don’t Compile” option for multiple selected VMFs at a time! Just use [Shift]+click to select multiple VMFs, and right click to choose the “Don’t Compile” option for all of the selected VMFs at once.

  • Fixed a bug where the SDK Version/Game Config dropdowns in the Settings Dialog would not be populated if you change the Steam folder to a different Steam Library folder.

  • The Compile Window now reports any compiles that failed.

  • Fixed a bug where occasionally compile progress times would show up on the same line in the Compile Window.

  • Fixed a bug where setting the “debug” or “remember queue” configurations to invalid values in in config.cfg could cause HTCT to crash.

  • Turned the “Abort” button in the Compile Window into an “Abort/Recompile” button. When your compile is finished, press it to start it again.

  • Fixed a bug where HTCT would incorrectly accept standalone string values as valid (but useless) entries under the “options” key in config.cfg.
