Too much color in here, we need more black n’ white.
About the picture : I would have a strange feeling if I would have been in this staircase. Like, I dunno, watching my back to see if there’s no metropolice running after my ass to beat the shit out of me.
I was born in Crimea and have been at the black sea shore >9000 times, now that I think about it, the dune buggy and sand traps chapters in HL2 remind me of that area.
I’m from Hungary, which technically isn’t Eastern but Central Europe, but the architecture is still almost the same as what you see in the more eastern parts of Europe. Playing Half-Life 2 always makes me feel at home
Which part? I have family in Pecel, which is fairly close to Budapest. My dad and uncle came to the US in 1956 as political dissidents (they fought against the Soviet invasion, and ended up sneaking out through Austria, thanks to an Austrian border guard who warned them of Soviet patrols). I visited a few times, when I was a kid. My dad was picked up by the police there once, after he noticed he and my mom were being followed. They went into a bar, and he loudly stated in hungarian that “The guy following me isn’t doing a very good job of staying hidden.” Most of the patrons laughed, and the guy following him was so embarrassed that he got up and left. A couple hours later, he was picked up and questioned, and after a few more hours they let him go. They kept “asking” (more like stating that he was, and he kept denying it) if he was a spy, or in the US military (he wasn’t).
This has been said a million times by now. Its mainly Sofia, Bulgaria its the birthplace of art director Victor Antonov, but there are copies of buildings form Serbia and Romania too.
