The silo full of tentacle shit like the pig lezard at 2.20 !
Why do I now wanna see this movie just for lawls?
I think it would be cool if the meteor things in xen weren’t just like giagantic bricks, i think that some walls should crumble when you shoot or hit them.
Because it was a comedy, and a good one at that.
Sadly, I have to agree with you.
The cafeterias:
I hated the fact, that the HL1 cafeterias never contained any kind of food. There was absolutely nothing (except for Magnussons lunch in the microwave)!
I think it would make sense to have at least a little fridge (in the smaller cafeteria in Sector C), which contains things like a banana, a sandwich, a yoghurt pot and tupperware.
The bigger canteens should have some pots with standard canteen food (fries, cutlet, etc.) and a few plates and flatware on tables with some remaining food on it.
It would also make sense to add food lying on the tables and put a overthrown plate on the floor to let it look more like a mess.
Furniture:
-
Security offices should contain gun racks and firearm lockers.
-
I was very confused about the fact, that the offices in HL1 never had copying machines and printers (apart from the fact, that there were absolutely no PCs in Office Complex). They should be in!
-
I also would like to see water coolers in the office complex (because bigger offices simply have them!)
-
Fire Extinguishers, which are shootable would be nice!
That was all!
I hope it isn’t too much work.
I shall merge them in.
Two suggestions:
- Would be nice if fire would spray sparks (I think could be added as an particle effects)
- Another cool thing would be moths and flies which flies around a few lamps (surface and underground facility) and dumpsters.
There are flies flying around lamps in HL1, so they are most likely going to be in Black Mesa
When that scientist falls off of the ladder, have him land and die at the bottom of the shaft instead of disappearing.
With ragdoll physics implemented, it’ll probably fall down and roll a bit.
QFE… But map design is probably far enough along that the devs won’t go back and add these minor details.
.
^
M’eh, I can honestly say when I passed through those areas that those miniscule details did not feel missing to me, and don’t seem important enough to add.
Unless of course watercooler and home appliance models becomes a new community project thread.
Come to think of it, I think there was already a thread for these types of props.
I must say I agree with this. I see those water coolers everywhere, all the time.
Good call. Time to fire up the good ole Blender!
Haha, I see what you did there, well played.
BoT.
Have you seen the Episode 2 fire effects? They’re some of the most realistic I’ve ever seen, and BM will certainly use it.
I like the second idea. It’s simple, but I’d imagine it would be effective. As far as I know there weren’t flies in the original, but there were rats and cockroaches, so flies should definitely be included, if only to add effect.
Another small suggestion I have for Black Mesa. I would love it if every locked door in the game could make a suitable sound for when the player presses the use key on it. ‘Locked’ sounds were only applied to a few doors in Half-Life 2 and it just made the absence of that sound on the other doors all the more irritating. It’s just a small suggestion, but it would be satisfying.
Ep2 fire is the sex.
There were moths in the original, although low quality.
Locked doors is a good idea.
Ah were there moths? I really don’t remember that, nevermind.
I would like to see nice cinematic crash scenes of flying vehicles.
For example a chopper which fights the tentacle in the level surface tension and skit, after getting a hit by the tentacle.
Or a jet could come down somewhere, after colliding with a manta ray.
Very few places where I can think that would go down with good effect, perhaps the instance where some fighter jets carpet bomb the area just outside the barracks (with the massive munitions room).
Definitely leave that chopper alone though, that thing was fun to take out, besides I would hope a pilot isn’t so stupid to fly that close to the tentacles.
Though I admit if it was an instance where the chopper was too close to the ground while the tentacles explode from the sand, it would look pretty awesome.
