The point is, if no-one is answering the radio, something must be up. So they say they’ll be sending more another squad to see what’s up.
“Strut A, why are you late with your status report? … Attack team, check it out!”
Hah. MGS2 is exactly how I felt about that.
They are in a base full of Aliens, Aliens which they know nothing about. The problem could be anything from a Damaged Radio to a Gargantua attack. I’m sure the Military would be safe and send in a Fireteam just to check up on them.
Real Life example: I have a guy on my steam list who is an Iraq war veteran. His Humvee was attacked by Insurgents on an empty road. The road was deemed ‘safe’, so they didn’t have any escort with them. Anyway, when they failed to show up on time, the military sent out a squad to go find him, and saved his life.
I’m pretty sure that would be an extremely annoying feature.
They don’t have to actually show up unless scripted (like that one part in power up). Besides, who would wait around long enough for them to actually show up anyway? It’s just sound to make it seem like the Military is covering each other.
Where would you hear it? Ram’s already stated that the radio is only for communication between squad members.
He’s talking about the big radios, not the Squad member’s two-ways.
And Ram was talking about the Two-ways, not the big ones.
I think.
In the military we do it the other way around it’s more like [you] this is [me].
That makes sense…
Any dev word on this?
Grunts arriving when you kill grunts would work very badly. :fffuuu:
Example: “Charlie Papa (Command Post) this is Bravo 2 (or another squad name), contact with Freeman! Requesting support! Over” “Bravo 2, this is Charlie Papa. Roger, will send reinforcements. Over” “Charlie Papa this is Bravo 2. Roger. Out”
Normally actual radio conversations go for longer than this, but it could be seriously condensed. You could kill the grunt anytime during this conversation. If you kill them andthey haven’t said “Out” it would be cool to hear “Bravo 2 (or another squad) this is Charlie Papa, acknowledge. Over”
Sickest radio conversations EVER
Bit late to do it now, but if a patch is ever released it would be AWESOME
Yes, although Charlie Papa is a really bad callsign.
It’s not a callsign, it stands for Command Post in phonetic alphabet
Then they would use “Command” or some other recognised callsign.
Nup, they use Charlie Papa (as far as I know) to stand for Command Post. Phonetic Alphabet is actually far more common than callsigns
I’d actually like this. New gnome
They don’t use pure phonetic alphabet, numbers are usually assigned. “Zero Charlie” for example. There are actually dedicated callsigns for permanent postions.
In US armed forces yes. Local police and my job use it the other way around, also works better if you have idiots who can’t use a mic and cut off the first half of the transmission
- Go to trucker channel
- Begin idle chat clogging up the airwaves
- ???
- PROFIT!!!
