I fear you underestimate the situation here. If these windows do not have blinds added, all these people will refuse to play a mod that is being made at no cost to them.

I’d like to see some evidence of the Xen research that goes on in Black Mesa, before the resonance cascade happens. Headcrabs in glass tubes (like Alien) or something like that. Then you’d be like “oh shit they are loose” when everything starts exploding. It would be great.
I disagree, the Alien Research was secret, they didn’t just leave aliens laying around.
The whole facility was secret, there’s no reason to hide secret things in a more secret part of a top-secret facility.
