Funny. I remember that guy. I fired at the headcrab when he was playing that animation and he flew against two walls before falling. That animation does something to his physics.
It would be possible using source engine… you just need 1 sequence using 100 dynamic interactions with a lot of props (mostly transforming gibs).
If you kill the headcrab, the scriped sequence is broken. Then it relies on regular physics. Havok physics pushes objects apart with extreme force when props are inside one another in a way they shouldn’t be. This causes the headcrab and human body ragdolls to fly apart violently.
Zombies corpses on the other hand are scripted to allow their headcrab to pass freely through them. Why they didn’t set it that way for these two entities is beyond me.
Probably because they thought it looked strange if the headcrab lied inside the body of the victim in this special scene but in combat the player wouldn’t take care about it so they wanted the headcrab lying apart from its victim.
If they had just made it so the headcrab’s collision boxes had a hole large enough for a head in the mouth area, it could have worked without the flying corpses, but that might be too much for a processor to do for every single crab, especially in prop filled areas.
I have been a Half-life veteran for a long time, it was practically the first game I ever played in my life at the age of 9(to young). I’m sure that everybody else that has suggestions to the Dev team is also a Half-life veteran. My suggestion for the Dev team is to take your time to exceed everybodies expectations for the game. Half-life was game of the year when it came out, it was the game to buy! Remake those moments for us with the best enthusiasm as you can. Make it that we can say to ourselves, “Wow, this game is great!”. I know that the Black Mesa: Source won’t be a disappointment to me, but do your best to make the best for all us Half-life vets’!
Wrong thread bucko.
They’re already doing their best to make the game almost perfect judging from the many screenshots, videos and the long development time.
I liked that scene in the original half-life.
The first time you encounter the zombies a guard is shooting at them.
I killed him with the crowbar to get his weapon, while he was distracted.
transformation is not instantaneous. the head crab incapacitates its victim first by penetrating their skull. this process either kills instantly or renders the victim unconscious. taking over the nervous system transforming the victim’s physiology will take probably take hours. meanwhile his body is lying on the ground with the head crab attached, and possibly moving and jerking around.
:what:
That’s correct but it may be quicker than you may think. Also helmets can’t stop Headcrabs. proof: Zombines
I have a question, then where is these helmet gone to?
I have no fucking idea
omnomnom
The headcrabs knock em off when they jump on their heads :S
They don’t have helmets.
They can’t knock off a combine soldier’s helmet that’s weird and absurd
say what
