Game Stuck On Menu

Whenever I click load game it brings me to the pause menu but with all options removed except ‘return to game’ and ‘quit’ but the only one I can click is quit so I’m stuck on the pause menu unless I leave. it’s super frustrating because I got pretty far in Xen and I want to beat the game because I loved it so far, so pls help.
