Saying that just displays an ignorance of what Scientology actually is. It is not just a religion. It conducts itself like a business, like a cult, like a paramilitary organisation (it has a branch that defends it from whistle blowers and the like by whatever means of discrediting or intimidation they can), like a therapeutic methodology, like a church, and like a science (the nonsense that is dianetics) in different contexts, but overall it is a dangerous organisation designed to exploit people and expand itself in size, and economic power. For example, it claims the right of a religious institution to exempt itself from taxes, yet it treats many of its practices as business interests so it can avoid being forced to reveal them publicly as this would be revealing its ‘trade secrets’ and therefore affecting its source of income. If you look it up on the web it tends to present itself as either a self-help methodology to ‘empower’ yourself, or a corporate tool for teaching people to improve their productivity. And as I said before, my cousin has seen first hand how it tries to hustle vulnerable, mentally handicapped people away from their professional care and indoctrinate them.
I’m no fan of organised religion, but the last thing you should do is compare Scientology to the established religions of the world, because that’s giving legitimacy to a dangerous, parasitic organisation.
